Nur, wie kann man den die "geheimen Prototypen" so da stehen lassen

Zum Bild, das ist Gott sei dank eins von vielen schäbigen Computerbildern.

@carparazzo: FALSCH! Das Bild ist echt; es stammt allerdings schon von letzter Saison und wurde damals in den Magazinen als erster 7er ohne Tarnung gehandelt... Insofern gäb's mal wieder nen Grund zu meckern und zu diskutieren, weil das Teil doch ziemlich verstaubt ist Aber tatsächlich scheint es sich um nen Mule des 5er mit 7er-Optik zu handeln (der, wie gesagt, damals noch nicht so offen gezeigt wurde). Welch bessere Möglichkeit gäbe es, von einem wirklich krachneuen Prototypen wie dem 5er "abzulenken"?

Beim Durchstöbern meines Archivs fielen mir eben etliche alte Bilder mit dem selben Hintergrund wie die aktuellen auf... Plötzlich passt alles zusammen... Werd vielleicht mal nen Urlaub dorthin buchen

BMW to unveil "Back to Roots" M3

BMW's M division brand manager Tom Salkowski reported to the press today that his division has been working on a limited-production run of the world renowned E30 chassis M3 for a mid 2004 release as the "E30 M3".

Salkowski told the press, "We wanted to bring back the car that made us famous," and "If it wasn't for the E30 M3, BMW would not be where it is today." One of the most successful touring cars of all time, the E30 M3 has been a cult car since it's introduction in Europe in 1986.

Salkowski stressed that the car would be very close to the original, while being completely redesigned from the ground up. The interior and exterior will reflect the original in almost every detail. Salkowski noted "We wanted to make it a lightweight true to it's purpose race car that can be driven on the street."

We are told the car will be motivated by an updated version of the car's original S14 engine, to be named the S16. "We wanted to keep it's character" Salkowski stated. He didn't go into details, but suggested that through the use of many of the new technologies in the current M engines and the new V12 in the 760 sedan, they have been able to get over 300 horsepower from this 2.5 liter 4 cylinder motor. Weighing under 2800 pounds, this car will be a real rocket, possibly the fastest vehicle BMW will have produced.

The head of BMW's design division Chris Bangle noted that the design for the vehicle would be basically unaltered, with the same "quirky" lines and "boy-racer" look that keeps the car so original. "It was a unique process" Bangle said, "We had to work within the lines of this vehicle from the mid-eighties and update it without losing it's original look. Bangle, when asked about the criticism he has garnered from many of his recent designs, stated that it was not a redesign, just a freshening.

The car will be unveiled this coming April at the New York International Auto Show to the anxiously awaiting public.

BMW set to start building cars in China from 2003

MUNICH/HONG KONG, March 14 - BMW AG said on Friday it had won key approval

from Beijing to start building cars in mainland China from the second half of

2003, a major step in its bid to double Asian sales over the next five years.

Confirming an earlier Reuters report, BMW said Beijing had approved a

feasibility study on a planned deal with Brilliance China Automotive Holdings to

build up to 30,000 BMW 3 and 5-series cars per year in the northeastern Chinese province of Liaoning.

"The joint venture represents a fundamental step forward in one of the most

important automobile markets of the future," BMW Chief Executive Helmut Panke

said in a statement.

An industry source told Reuters earlier the two companies would sign the

deal this month. Although the joint venture contract still needed final

approval, Panke said he now saw no hindrance to starting production in the

second half of 2003.

BMW will invest 450 million euros ($486.6 million) and hold a 50-percent

stake in the venture, while Brilliance China, the country's largest van maker,

will hold 40.5 percent.

The remaining 9.5 percent of the company, which will have registered capital

of 150 million euros, will be owned by the Liaoning provincial government.

BMW stock was marginally firmer in Frankfurt trade, outperforming a 0.1

percent dip on the DJ European autos index. Shares in Brilliance China closed up

1.06 percent at HK$1.90 on Friday. The stock had gained 34 percent in the three

months through Thursday's close.

BMW has been present in China since 1994 but is on an ambitious growth path

in the world's fastest growing auto market.

It aims to double sales in Asia to 150,000 cars a year by 2008, with much of

the growth coming from China where it has said demand is already rising fast,

particularly for its high-margin 7-series executive saloon.

BMW's Asian sales, including its diminutive Mini hatchback, rose 28 percent

in 2002, with China, including Hong Kong, its second-largest market in the

region after Japan.

China-based auto makers, including foreign joint ventures, sold 3.25 million

vehicles in 2002, a jump of 37.1 percent from the previous year, according to

official Chinese statistics.

China's auto industry is crowded with around 110 manufacturers, but only 12

have an annual capacity of more than 50,000 vehicles. Beijing has called for

consolidation of the sector, mindful that some domestic players produce only a

handful of vehicles a year.

Also ich finde den alten immernoch bulliger und einfach schöner...der neue ist so zierlich und hat so einen Japanar Touch...weiß nicht so genau, was ich davon halten soll...

bei mir geht es gerade in die andere richtung. er ist sicherlich nicht die imposant, extrovertierte erscheinung wie ein 7er oder ein z4. aber in der oberklasse darf es etwas klassisch sein. der alte 5er hat mir, mit ausnahme des m5, nie richtig gefallen.

Die Front sieh wirlich gut aus, aber dieses Heck gefällt mir einfach nicht. Da fehlt jeglicher sportlicher Look, da ist keine Dynamik! Irgendwie wie bei einer Ami-Limousine. Das Heck des alten 5ers war wirklich schön, aber das....

Aber ansonsten sieht es gut aus.

finde der sieht hinten aus wie ein japaner. aber ich muss sagen bmw hat mit den neuen hecks ne richtung eingeleitet die mir beim 7er auch schon nicht gefallen hat.

Der neue 5er ist gut von der Form her und die Ausstatung ist auch ok aber die Endrohre könnten ein bißchen dicker sein.

Haben den neuen 5er gerade live gesehen. Er ist an mir mit ca. 40km vorbei gefahren. Wirkt doch echt dynamisch das Auto, auch wenn er so langsam unterwegs ist.

Leider hatte ich meine Digicam nicht dabei, sonst wäre ich umgedreht.

Das Allgäu scheint wirklich ein kl. Paradies für Erlkönige zu sein, was ich hier schon so gesehen habe.

Ich mußte letzte Woche einen neuen 5er live sehen, leider!

Ich finde ihn in Natura eine Katastrophe. Viel zu groß, viel zu wuchtig, nicht elegant, nicht sportlich, einfach nur häßlich. Der E39 war für mich eine tolle sportliche Limousine, der Neue greift genauso in die Schei*e, wie der aktuelle 7er und der Z4, den man jetzt ständig und überall sieht.

Irgendwie ist der goldene Schnitt bei BMW nicht mehr vorhanden. Das letzte hübsche Auto war das E46 Coupe...

oh gott, die felgen sehen ja total verloren in den radhäusern aus.

die verspielten fugen gefallen mir beim z4 um einiges besser, als beim 5er. passt irgendwie nicht dazu.

stimmt! aber das ist schon beim momentanen 5er das problem. die basisbereifung (15 oder 16 zoll) sieht viel zu klein aus!

auf diesem bild sehen die kanten schon etwas komisch aus. nimmt mich wunder wie dieses teil in live aussieht.

aua aua aua, eigentlich hatte ich vor mir den 5er als nächstes Auto genauer anzuschauen. Bisher habe ich aber noch kein einziges "richtiges" Foto gesehen, das mir auch nur annähernd gefallen hätte.

Ich frage mich wo es mit BMW hingeht? Dieses Design ist meiner Meinung nach zu polarisierend für die breite Masse! Auch wenn der 7er den Amis gefällt, so wird es BMW auf dem europäischen Markt schwierig haben.

Ich glaube jedenfalls, dass mein nächstes Auto wieder ein Audi sein wird...

Ganz so einfach ist es nicht - Scheinwerfer und Blinker machen sehr viel aus. Und die E-Klasse sieht auch nicht mehr so prickelnd aus, wenn Du sie in Silber und mit Serienbereifung hinstellst - die E-Klasse bei Dir auf dem Bild hat 18-Zoll Bereifung in superbreit. Die Wagenfarbe silber braucht bei allen Wagen eher große Räder, sonst wirkt's leicht plump.
