the real advantage the srt4 has is plainly cost. and trust me you dont want to spend too much on your first car. make sure you test drive it first.

going back off topic. i also think the rb25det is stronger than the 4g63.

is the srt-4 the sports version of the chrysler neon ive heard of this car before and its supposed to be great i wish they bought some more american cars over to the uk and set them up for uk roads

SRT-4 = Tuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrr-boooooooo!!! (Neon)

I worry about the SRT-4 because, Turbo + 250 ft-lbs + FWD = Hard to control.

Evo has AWD, which is generally safer and provides more control.

I think you can get them in England, but you could import a Pulsar GTI-R for less. Or and Evo I - VII.

I wouldn't worry about the safety of the SRT-4 Westside, especially with the limited-slip, it's a rough racer, but a pretty forgiving one.

If you like, you can always sell it down the road, and pick up a used Evo when they're even cheaper than they are now. The SRT-4 I think will be a good ride for you to hone your skills on. And since Dodge still carries a stigma of not being a serious sport compact competitor, by driving one, you can be part of a new revolution. :-))!

And to Zit's question, the SRT-4 is indeed the Tuuuuuurbo! Neon, or super Neon if you will. The "sport Neon" would be the 150 hp. Neon R/T.

tourque steer would be a problem as well i mean 250bhp through the front wheels is a lot and the rs focus tourque steered like mad that limited slip diff is bad news in a powerful front drive on uk roads it would be intolerable to drive :-(((°

torque stear isnt that big of a deal if you have the right tires and lsd. also with a turbo that is meant for power in the higher rpm then the following formula can be developed:

biggerturbo + fwd car = traction control.

In first gear it isnt that bad cus you usually havent even spiked yet, if your modified. high torque/na cars torque steer worse. but, you should be having both hands on the wheel when your not shifting anyway. also torque steer coming out of turns takes some time to get used to but it makes it more fun i think.

The '04 SRT-4's use a Quaife LSD which is simply the best, I even have the Quaife on my car and it's awesome. If you break it, even when you race and it breaks, they replace it.

I say go with the SRT-4, it's damn cheaper, ALOT cheaper to upgrade and could be a great track car with the right suspension setup.

ur roads in america are all straight try going on a b-road in the uk with torque steer you will not feel safe on roads such as the brenig and the a470

On the subject of powerful front drive cars, the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA is one. 250 hp. and 221 lb.ft. through the front wheels, but somehow they make it managable. A large V6 up front may or may not help in this quest, but somehow it seems to work, and very well.

the brenig is a fast narrow flowing b-road my 993 turbo handles it with ease while a 147 gta alfa on there i needed a nappi cos of all the torque steer!

Hallo wEstSide,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Verschiedenes über Autos (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

Well, the 147 is a hatch, so I think it's characteristics are a little different from the 156. But from what I hear, they both handle the power very well.

What's a nappi?

nope. just because most of americas cars are only good on straight roads does not mean that most of americas road are straight. most of them in flat states are but if you get to a state with mountains then yes you have to take turns.

and trust me it isnt hard to control torque steer. either get more upper body strength or get off the throttle.

You haven't seen Lombard street in San Francisco. O:-)

OK, I didn't post here for a while, but I have something to say this time.

Evolution si teh win!!11one

Seriously, I got to saw one up close, and I like it much more than the SRT-4, SRT-4 remains second choice.

America is pretty flat, and there are a lot of straight highways. One guy said, "The 'Road to God' is like 395, it goes forever."

Geschrieben

Yea, I am going to drive both first, I didn't make that clear. If the Evo drives like crap (doubt it), I'm not going to get it. If the money is there, why not get an Evo? As long as the insurance doesn't kill me eh?

Geschrieben

the evo is a cool car , good choice but i would consider an impreza as well..you know flat four

Geschrieben

It's easy to be swayed by the charms a car that originally cost about 10k more than your second choice, as is the case with the Evo and SRT-4.

The Evo will always have it's benefits in relation to the Dodge, and vice versa. But one of them is not really practicality. The Evo is very much of a track car, and you would have to be very comfortable with that to even stand driving it everyday, and during the times when you just want to cruise home in some kind of silence. The SRT's demeanor is crude too, but not until you kick it.

This comparison reminds my of the battle that a person on a diet can have. " Should I get the gooey Hershey bar, or the diet protein bar? "

The Evo is delicious no doubt, but the SRT-4 is hardly a diet protein bar, and has plenty to give, and at lesser expense. Especially to an inexperianced young blood racer like yourself. Think of it like that. :) Shoot for the gold rings when you get out of school, it'll give you something to look forward to.

I think its more like Hershey vs. Nestle. Hershey chocolate is good, but not near as smooth and delicious as Nestle. The calorie difference is there, but its small enough to me that it is negligible. The diet protien bar is tasty enough for me, but my taste buds want for more (I seriously enjoy driving a '92 Toyota Corolla). Born to drive (or eat), baby. Bumps can't bother me, think of them as "hydraulics." :)

Geschrieben

Ever had Lindt chocolate from Switzerland? Gotta be the best chocolate around. As for American chocolate, Symphony ( which is made by Hershey ironically enough ) is probably the smoothest.

I think you just solved your own dilemma, maybe you should just get a '92 Corolla, and then give the left over to a good cause. Follow your heart my man.

Geschrieben

Heh, gotta do something for yourself every once in a while, otherwise people will take advantage of ye'

I have had Lindt chocolates, eat 2 pieces of their dark chocolate everyday with lunch.

Good chocolate from Hershey? WOW! Now you're going to tell me that Hummer makes compacts.

Geschrieben

Actually, Hummer is going to make a compact something, or rather a mid-size when the H3 comes out. It basically looks like a Jeep Liberty wannabe, only bigger.

Quite the chocoholic eh? Try a Symphony bar sometime and tell me it isn't smoother and creamier than Nestle. I always found Nestle chocolate to be kind of ersatz personally, but still good.

yea uli test drove both the evo and the sti and preffered the sti 100% over the evo, in the states at least.
