Noch was zum Thema:

Crewe, February 2004... In a hostile climate and against fresh competition, Bentley Motors continues to dominate the High Luxury Sector. Indeed, with 1017 sales during the course of the year, Bentley outsold the combined total sales of both the Rolls-Royce and Maybach brands.

Though this represents a drop of 12.1 per cent on Bentley sales in 2002, this should be seen in the context not only of key global economic difficulties - in particular the downturn of the German economy, the SARS outbreak and tax rises in Hong Kong - but also the end of production of the Continental R, T and Azure. These two-door cars accounted for nearly 20 per cent of sales in 2002. By contrast, just 37 of 2003's sales were accounted for by the new Continental GT, deliveries of which started only at the very end of the year.

Perhaps more indicative of the true picture of the state of the High Luxury Sector (HLS) is the fact that, despite a 43.9 per cent fall in European sales (largely accounted for by adverse economic conditions in Germany), Arnage sales fell just 10.75 per cent over its 2002 performance. This suggests very strongly that despite the considerably wider choice brought by the high profile launches of the Maybach and Rolls-Royce brands in 2003, Bentley remains the luxury car of choice among those happy to spend over £150,000 on a four door car.

"Under the circumstances, this is an exceptionally positive result for us," commented Bentley's member of the board for sales and marketing, Adrian Hallmark. "It is fair to say the sector has had a tough year and, at its start, many were predicting that new competition would undermine the appeal of the Arnage. In fact, quite the reverse has happened - the Arnage continues to dominate the sector while our rivals have still to realise their predicted sales figures."

In 2004, Bentley sales will be dominated by the Continental GT as it comes fully on stream, but a clear indication of Bentley's commitment to the High Luxury Sector currently dominated by the Arnage is the fact that Bentley's aim is to maintain its market share at or around 50 per cent (650 - 750 cars per year). Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, "As we have said before, this is Bentley's natural territory and it will not be surrendered. With the comprehensive styling update the Arnage has now received and the massive increase in business currently being enjoyed by our Bentley Mulliner personal commissioning department, we feel we have good reason for facing the future, and our competitors, with great confidence and optimism."

wogegen ich mit den ausdruck "high luxury sector" beim continental gt etwas mühe habe. okay, wenn 150'000 € grundpreis in diese kategorie gehört, müsste man für einen rolls royce oder maybach wohl die kategorie "very high luxury sector" erfinden...

Die Sache ist doch ganz klar.

Solange unter dem Maybachhaus auch "Autos" wie der Smart die A-Klasse etc. laufen (ist halt nun mal "nur" Mercedes) wird der Maybach neben dem Phantom seine elektrischen Außenspiegel beschämt einklappen müssen.Prestige,Image und Historie kann man einfach nicht mit technischen Superlativen gleichsetzten.Mag der Maybach auch das bessere Auto sein (wo auch immer),der Maybach wird dem Anspruch und der Erwartung eines echten Rolls Royce-Kunden sicher nicht gerecht.

Abgesehen davon ist der Maybach wieder mal ein typisch deutsches Auto und verkörpert nicht internationales Flair.Wenn man mal ehrlich ist,sieht doch der Maybach recht bescheiden aus,überall Holz ob es passt oder nicht,technisch alles reingepackt ob sinnvoll oder nicht,dazu dieser Megamotor,S-Klasse Kockpit (wie einfallsreich) etc.,der typisch deutsche Größenwahn stilecht verpackt im Bauhausdesign.

Leider ist Rolls auch nicht mehr das was Es mal war,seitdem wir Deutschen die Finger im Spiel haben.Aber BMW macht seine Sache einigermaßen gut.

Aus einem Gänseblümchen kann man keine Rose machen.....

Rolly Royce feiert 100. Geburtstag mit Sonder-Luxusmodell

London (AFP) - Mit der Produktion von nur 35 Sonder-Luxuskarossen will Rolls Royce und der deutsche Mutterkonzern BMW den 100. Geburtstag der weltberühmten Edelwagen-Schmiede feiern. Ein Prototyp des Centenary Phantom soll am Dienstag im nordwestenglischen Manchester vorgestellt werden - auf den Tag genau vor hundert Jahren hatten dort Charles Rolls und Henry Royce im Midland Hotel zum ersten Mal ihre Hände geschüttelt. Seltener als der Centenary Phantom ist nur noch sein Vorläufer Phantom IV, von dem zwischen 1950 und 1956 genau 18 Exemplare angefertigt wurden. Sie sind ausschließlich Monarchen und anderen Staatsoberhäuptern vorbehalten.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced today that a special Centenary version of the Phantom will be produced. The announcement was made at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, England, where Rolls-Royce is celebrating the centenary of the first meeting between Henry Royce and the Hon. Charles Rolls.

Production of the Centenary Phantom is restricted to just 35 cars, uniquely identified by special treadplates in the door sills and a chassis plate mounted on the B-post. The car’s badges will feature red-on-chrome lettering, recalling the company’s first quarter-century between 1904 and 1930, at which point the badges were changed from their original red to black. Also recalling a colourful past, yet wholly contemporary, is the Dark Curzon paintwork scheme of the car – the ‘birthday livery’ combination derived directly from 100EX, the one-off experimental car unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

The body is in Dark Curzon, with wheels in Meteor Silver. Dark Curzon leather has been used for the seats and interior trim. A full-leather headlining in Smoke Grey completes the unique interior trim treatment. The Centenary Phantom’s woodwork includes Figured Mahogany veneer with a distinctive silver inlay, while the inter-linked ‘RR’ insignia are featured in the centre of all four door cappings. Both the front and rear sides of each picnic table are also veneered, creating a distinctive wooden accent in the backrests of the front seats.

Customers will be constantly reminded they are driving a special Phantom from behind the wheel. New instruments with a unique anodised finish to their faces are presented in a finely textured aluminium dash panel. Meanwhile, the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ mascot will be a constant talking point as it is made from solid sterling silver.

Tony Gott, Chairman and CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: "We are delighted to announce production of the Centenary Phantom, which represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the marque's achievement in reaching its 100th anniversary. It builds on the excitement and impact generated by the 100EX Centenary Experimental Car, launched to worldwide acclaim at the Geneva Motor Show in March, by delivering some of that special car’s signature features to customers for the first time."

The first example of the Centenary Phantom will be on display on the concourse in front of the G-MEX Centre in Manchester today as part of the Centenary celebrations.

Rolls-Royce has announced that Phantom customers are now offered a wider choice of options to individualize their motor car. Each new feature has been carefully designed and engineered to enhance the look and feel of the Phantom.

To complement the elegant exterior profile of the Phantom, a new set of 21-inch aluminium wheels are now available. Taller than the conventional Phantom rims by 30mm, the wheels add a dramatic edge to the look of the motor car and highlight the dynamic character of the Phantom. Shod with Goodyear tyres, they feature a built-in run flat system. The new tyres sizes are 255/50R21W on 8x21 rims at the front, and 285/45R21W on 9.5x21 rims at the rear.

The finest woodwork has always been an important feature of Rolls-Royce models and now customers can choose additional items to be finished in specially selected veneers. The steering wheel spokes, instrument panel and rear air vent surround can now all be specified with the wood matching the feature grain selected for the dashboard. Customers can choose from five veneers – Bird’s Eye Maple, Burr Walnut, Elm Cluster, Figured Mahogany and Oak Burr. All Rolls-Royce wood components are produced by the highly skilled team of craftsmen and women at Goodwood, England.

The Phantom currently uses a wool and cashmere blend fabric for the interior headlining of the motor car. Customers may wish to specify the newly available Extended Leather Headlining as an alternative. Finished with a subtle perforation, the leather panel maintains a sense of light and space in the cabin and adds an extra dash of luxury.

A tilt and slide sunroof can now be specified. It is controlled with Rolls-Royce signature ‘violin keys’ situated in the overhead lighting panel. When closed the sunroof can be used to allow natural ambient lighting into the cabin or be screened off completely. Rear vanity mirrors, housed in the headlining, can also be specified as part of the package.

A number of new exterior colours and interior trim options will also be available from August this year. Previously available only via the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars ‘Bespoke Programme’, three further exterior colours have been added to the palette - Silver mono, Platinum mono and Artic White. Interior trims for the Phantom can now be ordered in Seashell mono, Tan mono, Light Grey mono, Blue Grey mono and Seashell and Black.

Und ? Es wurde wahrscheinlich bei beiden Marken ein identisches Umsatzvolumen erreicht...

Bei 518 Lada x 8.500,- EUR = 4.403.000 EUR

Bei 9 Phantom x 370.000,- EUR = 3.330.000 EUR

Kommt fast hin.

Mich wundert es nur das nicht mehr Bentleys an den Mann/die Frau gekommen sind - der Conti GT verkauft sich sehr gut.

Bei Aston wird sich noch was tun mit dem jetzt in Auslieferung befindlichen DB9.

Rolli versucht nun ab sofort mit neuer Innenausstattungsmöglichkeit den Umsatz anzukurbeln.

nur muss man auch die mittel sehen. vw und ford "verkaufen" die marken aston martin und bentley richtiggehend. früher war es absolutes highprice niveau, jetzt erhält man solche "luxuswagen" zum preis eines porsches. dasselbe läuft bei ford und jaguar ab. ich schätze sehr, dass bmw bis jetzt nicht auf diesen zug aufgesprungen ist.

Anläßlich des Gulf Cooperation Council, das im Dezember in Bahrain stattfindet, hat der britische Luxuswagenhersteller Rolls-Royce ein Sondermodell des Phantom aufgelegt.

Der GCC-Phantom, von dem nur sieben Fahrzeuge aufgelegt wurden, besticht durch seine Lackierung in Saphir-Schwarz-Metallic mit handgemalten Designstreifen in Cashmere, abgedunkelte Scheiben im Fond, 21 Zoll großen Leichtmetallrädern und einer Kühlerfigur aus massivem Silber.

Den Innenraum zieren diverse Applikationen aus Tulpenbaumholz, eine spezielle Lederausstattung, verchromte Bauteile und diverse eingesteppte Rolls-Royce-Logos in den Sitzen und Türverkleidungen. Weitere Extras sind elektrisch verstellbare Sitze im Fond, die zudem über einen eigenen DVD-Bildschirm plus Steuerkonsole verfügen, eine integrierte Kühlbox, spezielle Fußstützen und Handschuhfächer. Wer Interese an diesem besonderen Rolls-Royce hat, muss sich an einen Händler in der Golf-Region wenden, denn alle sieben Fahrzeuge sind bereits dort platziert.

57 S: Maybach entdeckt die Sportlichkeit

Um den sportlichen Ansprüchen der betuchten Klientel gerecht zu werden, legt Maybach eine leistungsgesteigerte Version des Maybach 57 auf. Der 612 PS starke 57 S(pezial) feiert seine Premiere auf dem Auto Salon in Genf.

Neben den 612 Pferdestärken stemmt der von AMG modifizierte 6,0-Liter-V12-Biturbo elektronisch begrenzt maximal 1.000 Nm in einem Bereich zwischen 2.000 und 4.000 /min. auf die Kurbelwelle. Diese zusätzliche Muskelmasse ermöglicht eine Sprintzeit aus dem Stand auf 100 km/h von fünf Sekunden.

Der Leistung entsprechend haben die Maybach-Ingenieure das Fahrwerk straffer abgestimmt, ohne nach eigenen Angaben den Fahrkomfort der Luxuslimousine zu beinträchtigen. Auch optisch kommt der Maybach 57 S sportlicher daher. Neue 20 Zoll große Leichtmetallfelgen, eine modifizierte Front mit veränderter Kühlergestaltung und eine überarbeitete Heckschürze mit zwei integrierten, neu gestalteten Endrohren zeichnen den Sport-Maybach aus, den es exklusiv in einer speziellen Silber- oder Schwarz-Lackierung gibt.

Im Innenraum hat Maybach die Lederausstattung überarbeitet sowie Klavierlack und Carbon-Elemente integriert. Weitere Angaben und Fotos zum Maybach 57 S wird es im Rahmen der Präsentation auf dem Genfer Auto Salon geben.

Ich gehe mal davon aus das alleine nach Dubai schon ca.35 Stück Phantom´s ausgeliefert worden sind.

Zum Beispiel bei West-Coast-Customs und Gennadi. Die müssen auch

produziert worden sein.

Außerdem hab ich allein in München schon min. drei verschiedene gesehen.

Ein weißer, ein grauer und ein schwarzer. Den schwarzen Phantom habe

ich aber sehr oft gesehen, könnten also theoretisch auch mehrere

gewesen sein (ich hab nie auf das Kennzeichen geachtet).

Sicherlich. Nur es gibt ganz wenige Fahrzeuge/Modelle/Marken, wo man sich das doch besser verkneifen sollte. Zudem legt diese Kundschaft mehr Wert auf Understatement und möchte nicht am Heck einen 72V-ABS-Kompressor-VTT-Aufkleber haben.

Man sollte das als Leistungssteigerung ab Werk verkaufen ohne den Zusatz Sport. Ich glaube nicht, das ein 73-jähriger Herr deswegen einen Maybach kauft.

Interessant ist übrigens, das der Maybach 57 S laut offizieller Preisliste (sofern man sich bei der Auto Bild drauf verlassen kann) ca. 5.000 Euro günstiger als die Standardversion ist.
