Hello, just a quick little question,

my brother noticed these "hooks" on both of the doors on his Mitsubishi 3000, there is a similar "Hook" on the B pillar but it doesn't really connect in any way, but it looks like it would hook in if the door moved a bit forward.

is there any specific purpose for these things?
like are they just to align the doors in the factory perhaps?
or maybe some type of additional reinforcement for collisions?

my brother says maybe some type of stiffening for hard corners or something, but it would be weird for a car like that to flex this much, also there's no wear on the paint.

it's been bugging him for a while now, and now that he's been bugging me with it it's bugging me now too :D
I/we would also be curious if that's more or less common with that type of car

Looking forward to your reply

A photo would be helpful! But I guess, these hooks are evidential in case of an accident. The hooks are required to fulfill the crash regulations.

aye, forgot to attatch the pic but yeah, it's like the one @double-p posted

so is that just necessary for long doors or does it have something to do with the rated top speed?
