August 2006 Modena, Italy- Italian Exotic car maker Pagani, already famous for their Zonda, C12S and Roadster models, today announced the arrival of their latest and greatest model, the Pagani Zonda X. At the heart of the new Zonda is the AMG derived twin turbo V12 seen in the CL65 coupe. The engine has been rumoured to have been teased enough to put out approximatly 1000hp and 1000nm of torque. The move is seen as a direct challenge to the new Bugatti Veyron, and prices of the two cars are believed to be similar, but while the Veyron is a luxury supercar, the Zonda X takes a much more bare bones approach. With the use of further exotic materials, the Zonda is believed to be as much as 200kg lighter than the 7.3 model that it replaces at the head of the Pagani tree. A high downforce configeration is also destined for the X, to give the car better stability at higher speeds and ensure fantastic ontrack performance. A sub 3 second 0-100kmh time, a 1/4 mile figure below 10 seconds and a top speed in the region of 380kmh are figures being thrown around the Pagani factory. The car will be displayed officially for the first time at a major international motor show in early 2004. Na dann Prost Mahlzeit Bugatti !
