Mv, where is the source for this, I couldn't find anything about that.

Thomas Bscher said in an interview that a lighter version is planned - and it is also mentioned in the latest Car mag. And rumours about a lighter and moderately more powerful version of the mighty veyron have been here from the very beginning of the veyron's story. The power figures are pure speculation though.

I just found out that on SSC's website they claim a top speed for the Ultimate Aero at 259.75 mph. Thats insane.

The thing is though it runs on 104 octane gas (by American calculations, that's about 110 octans by European calculations - RON110, I think ) The finest gas I've ever seen in Europe is RON100 - Shell V-power Racing/ Shell Optimax, OMV Super 100, Benzina Blue Octans 99 here in the Czech republic and others. I guess it is race gas then, which as far as I know costs about 10 or more USD per liter. That's about 40 per gallon. But well, I'm convinced a potential owner can afford that especially if he wants to use it rather rarely on race tracks and for drag races.

But my point is that if you filled up a veyron with such gas, it would do probably over 260mph, with an appropriate ECU modification, which is needed if the engine is to take benefits from the gas.

110 octane was 4.70 a gallon last time I checked. But that was about a year and a half ago.. Thats Northeast USA.. Maybe Bleh can confirm

ive never used race gas but my buddies do sometimes on their turbo cars. i think the 104 is $5 and change for a gallon as of last week. i guess to get 110 you would combine c16 and the 104. so yea expensive. prices are going down though. a lot of people i know just add toulene to their tank for the octane boost.

yea the veyron with race gas would be much more powerful. the ecu should throw in more timing making more power.

some of my friends with turbo cars have made a 60whp difference from pump to race gas. without any tuning what so ever some have gotten 30 more whp just from the race gas. now these are 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.7liter turbo cars what happens when you do it to the veyron??? more importantly what gas did they use for the testing so far?

Veyron you mean ? RON98 or RON100, basically an equivalent of your Premium unleaded 92 (used by the regular Aero).

UPDATE :

An Oregon based company named Brammo aims to introduce the first V12-powered american supercar. And it seems we're bound to see another 1000hp+ beast. They have already revealed specs of the engine,which will also be sold a single product. It will displace whacking 600 CID, yet weighing only 522lbs.

UPDATE:

SSC Autos are apparently developing an even faster version of the 1050hp Ultimate Aero to make sure they trump the veyron. Supercharger will be dropped in favour of twin-turbos. The new powerplant is said to develop 1200hp. And the car, due in late 2006, could come close to 270mph, as it will be even lighter and more importantly will have less drag.
