They have tarnished the R35 Skyline. Have you seen it?? Looks basically like the G35 Coupe. It's horrible (in terms of being a Skyline but perfect for the I G35).

I give Nissan a good vb_madfawk.gifvb_rl.gifvb_rant2.gif for tarnishing the Skyline name and reputation.

Nissan directly said they were changing the Skyline's image simply because the market "demands" more performance LUXURY cars rather than keeping their all-out bred performance machines. They have destroyed the Skyline of what it once was to be one of the greatest Japanese supercars to ever come out of Japan and now have turned it into some stupid ass luxury crap.

I'm highly disappointed in Nissan and think they can goto hell.

Makes me DAMN glad I didn't wait for the R35's to come out like I was wanting too. I went ahead with the R34 and now i'm happy as hell I did because I've been doubting my purchase.

A little over $70,000+ to get it certified for here. A new Skyline in Japan only costs about as much as the Supra's did here when new. Just importing one makes it extremely expensive by adding on another $25,000  .

Why would you pay 70k for what is a 30k car in Japan? Couldn't you save 15k and get the new R35? It has around 500 hp, is that not worth the visual hit?

Geschrieben

Considering I bought this car nearly a year and half ago, no I couldn't wait. It's not the visualization that hurts me it's the visual coming off the name that hurts me. They turned the Skyline into a sorry ass luxury car that has performance being 2nd-3rd of their worries and not their top priority. I prefer the R34's look WELL over any R-series including that crappy ass R35. Nissan has lost alot of credibility in making TRUE sports now because of this "new" crappy Skyline, IMO.

Why pay $70,000?? You can't goto Japan and buy the car for $40,000 (not $30,000 unless used with alot of miles) and think you can drive it in the states. You have to get it legalized just like any other car you want to import that's not sold in the US.

Geschrieben

When I posed that question I meant to ask why you would pay so much for a car that wasn't worth that much money (i.e. what justified the cost to you).

As like most people the Skyline was the ultimate dream import to own. So many would die to own so very few actually them. I wanted to be that very few.

I was thinking of posting a thread on the R34 Z-Tune, because it marks the end of an era, and by all accounts, the end of the Skyline as we know it.

When I first saw pictures of the R35, and learned that Nissan would bring it to the U.S., I knew exactly what their ploy was. To cash in on the name, in a part of the world (the U.S.) where there is a market starved for Skylines. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it really didn't have anywhere near 500 hp. It'll probably be more like a pumped up and luxified 350Z with 4wd. I haven't read too many specifics, but I don't see them giving it any more than 350 hp. - 400 tops. And then sell them like hotcakes for 50-55k each.

If the market really demanded more luxury as they say, then there would be no Ferrari or Lamborghini. So what Nissan is really saying is that in order to meet their sales target, the Skyline requires more luxury.

Aren't you glad your screen name has R34V behind it?

Experience tells me that an idiot is one who can not master their own language, especially written.

If you lack the mental fortitude to read the post then do me a favor and display a similar level of indolence and refrain from responding. :puke:

awe.... ban him.

i wasnt rude or anything was i? the only reason i said anything was because it was annoying to read a post that was barely broken into paragraphs.

if "Experience tells me that an idiot is one who can not master their own language, especially written." then hit tab or enter twice before starting the next paragraph.

this has nothing to do with mental capacity. its more of having a life. to spell it out: i wont waste my time reading large uninformative posts.

Clever use of theology though, but it means nothing to an atheist.

Good advice on the pm I may make use of it in the future.

and who said LNC wasn't a nice guy?

later, rordog

yea i quoted the bible, but i never mentioned the existence of God. so i dont see how being agnostic matters. a fool is still known by his many words.

I'll vote other. The Nissan 300zx Twin Turbo is a timeless car and will never be outdated. The headlight design was such a magnification invention, Lamborghini bough the rights from Nissan to use them on the 90's Diablo cars as everyone has seen. It set the stage for the other manufactures to set up and when it came to America. The 300ZX received many awards including Motor Trend “Import Car of the Year;” Automobile All-Star 1990-94; Automobile “Design of the Year;” Car and Driver and Road & Track both named 300ZX to their respective “10 Best” lists

Also in 1990 the American Z sales surpassed the 1 million-sales mark ( all model Z cars ), becoming the all-time best selling sports car.

Are you sure Lamborghini actually bought the rights and it's not a myth? Rectangular covered headlamps have been around a lot longer than even the 300ZX after all.

There is a striking resemblance, but unless they are the actual 300ZX units it seems like something that Lambo could get away with.

If it's true, makes me wonder how Ferrari got away with this.

Good call on the 300ZX being among the best looking Japanese sports cars, the lines are timeless. :)

got to be the skyline there isnt any other japanese car thats close realy

the skyline probably performs the best, however its not that attractive looking. it definitely took tough, but i would say there are many cars that look much more sleak and sporty. the skyline looks like it beats up things.

think of it this way, the skyline has very masculine physical attributes, bulging muscles....err fenders. you know what i mean it looks more like a tank. the wrx is the same way.

where as other cars like the nsx, rx7, or the s15 silvia are sleak and almost delicate looking implying femine characteristics but with the precision of a finely tuned watch like a modern fighter jet.

ill be a bit of a lemon but for me the nissan R390 is the best looking japanese supercar esque sportscar it will always stand out to me as a triumph of design, a lot of japanese sports cars look good they are not as beutiful as some of the euro cars or as stylish and classy but they ooze function and how advamced cars have become, i agree with what late night cable said as well, the lines of the 300ZX are timeless and it is a beautiful car and the NSX is a very pretty car and has the looks of much more expensive cars but ill stick with the R390 it is a lovely car in my eyes but maybe not in others

Geschrieben

I must admit that he's right. I didn't even think of the R390.

Mkiv Supra's are the sexiest looking Japanese car. Nothing looks similar to it. Plus they have the performance to match. Skylines arent that great looking as its only their rep that makes them popular. Rx7's are nice but the Ford Probe looks to similar. NSX's are my 2nd fav. I own a SW20 MR2 Turbo and i also love the look, especially with the veilside kit i have on
