Nice shots Skyline!

M5 is faster than E55, but concepts in the series always seem kind of off.

One of the things that I never liked were the extremely long endurance races, and the very long series races that sap your car's power because you can't bail out and get an oil change when you need to.

The endless laps are boring when you're dominating the race ( which you should be or why compete? ) There have always been 'too many' cars, and not enough tracks. I think GT4 fixes the track problem, but does anyone think the GT series might be getting a little soft, relying on their legendary eye candy too much, and neglecting cars that aren't Japanese?

To some extent I agree... japanese cars are a bit too many, don't know how many skylines there is there!

however the m3 csl is very fast - as fast as the SL65 AMG round nurburgring, I think that is realistic! I was so stunned that I watched replays on preview races just to see how they compete to each other!

I think this game is a start for new goals in gamesimulation - japanese or not, this is benchmark - Nurburgring does look fantastic, and the replays are incredible. I didn't have much expectation over GT3, but this is better than I thought. Also this is very good graphical optimisation to the hardware, unlike Gran Theft Auto - that shows jerky framerates witch is bad as all consoles are the same. Only one jerk I saw was 1 sec at the beginning of replays.

Will be interesting to see what XBox2 and 3 and PS3 and 4 will show us in simulations, that's the only games I like. Forza Motorsport for Xbox will be interesting to see.

I thought the winglets on the HSR-II came up.

They do when you're racing but when it's sitting still they are down. Interesting concept, I've found that they are not biased to braking (like the back wings of McLaren SLR MBenz) but by either the incoming air going in one side while the other sides wing pops up to provide stability.

Simply put, I believe it has a sensors on the front of the car. If it senses more weight, downforce and pressure on one side of the car the flap at the back comes up to equal out the balance of the car.

I might be wrong but this is what I've gathered and came up with.

GOD I hated that crap! No matter what you did you couldn't get away from having hp loss. I haven't done the Endurance races yet or gotten the chance to do pits yet but the tire lifes are longer than in GT3 which is more realistic in the real world standards.

I have a replay saved of Kris in a Mercedez-Benz 190 E Evo II Touring Car (which is fucking AMAZING car, definitely get it) on the Nordschleife but don't have a way to put it up. Kris's website only does photo's and not video's. So if somebody can host it I'll put it up.

Thanks.

man i wish i could get my pics up... i still need to buy a jump drive.

the pics look good skyline!

dealing with the endurances races isnt that bad in this one. as skyline mentioned, the tires last a little longer and so does the oil, can actually do a few endurances races without changing the oil and not having any bad side-effects. one cool thing about the longer races is fuel... just like real life.

for all the endurance races i really hope you guys are running b-spec x3. doing it any other way would really really suck. its easy to just set the driver on overtake at 3 or 4 and do something else, coming back every 10-25 min to tell him to pit.

Geschrieben

That's usually what I do is set them at 4 and overtake.

Geschrieben

i think b-spec is a small stroke of brilliance. i like to start the endurance races myself then if i fancy a cigarette i can just pit in, put it on b-spec then have a fag whilst the computer races for me

Geschrieben

I haven't seen B-Spec yet, but it sounds really cool. Instead of sitting in front of the T.V. like a zombie, you can play race manager and go on with leading a real life. Brilliant for sure.

I'm happy to see some old-school (80's) racers in the game too.

I'm just waiting for the price of the game to drop, and possible bugs to be worked out. I'm such a tightwad sometimes. :)

well woolworths and tesco's are doing gt4 for £29.99, £10 pounds under rrp. the eighties cars in the game are a load of fun to drive, plus in one of the used garages (can't remember which one) i managed to find a lotus carlton. very happy about that. but as i have said i think b-spec is a great addition as it lets you do other things whilst still racing.

Geschrieben

They have Woolworth's in England, the old 5 and 10 store?

A Lotus Carlton, really. That's awesome news. The Lotus Carlton/Omega is one of my favorite cars, and one I've always wanted to have in Gran Turismo. Omiting this original G super saloon would have been a crime.

Now if we could only find an E30 M3 in there.

Hallo bleh,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Verschiedenes über Autos (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

they have the bmw turbo 2002 i think it's called from the 70's? one of the clever additions is that certain cars are only available through the used car garages, making them and extra special find each time

yea i know! its kinda annoying though, since uli(one of my buddies) has been waiting for so damn long to pick up a white b5 s4, not the rs4. the b5 s4 is only available in the used car garage II.

you also have to be very lucky, i found a cougar xr-7 in the 80's used garage a couple of times but you never know whats going to be in them all, you just have to keep looking, plus found an aston martin V8 vantage another time in the 90's garage

Geschrieben

i think they get completely refreshed every 30 days or so, thats what ive heard and it checks out so far..

Geschrieben

yeah, the only problem is i totally forget to keep checking it

With so many cars available, it's a shame that aquiring them is so happen stance. Like the guy who came here a while back who had racked up millions of credits in GT3 and still haden't been awarded an F1 car.

There really should be a code that allows you to easily gain access to all of them. What good are hundreds of cars if you can't touch most of them?

a little more realistic

if you really are desperate to get all the cars, get an xploder or action replay cheat cd, they are about £20 brand new, they have codes in them that will give you things like all the cars

i have earned the love 1969 ford gt40, wonderful car with a beautiful noise from that webber engine

Geschrieben

You mean Ford engine, with Webber carbs.

As far as Ford's go, I'm still kicking it in the '68 Gulf car from GT3. 8) Thing is crazy fast, especially for a nearly 40 year old race car - 1 min. 1 sec. around Mid-Field Raceway.

They have always seemed to do a pretty good job at giving the GT40's in the series a decent exhaust note thankfully.

Geschrieben

a word of warning though, the '69 GT40 in GT4 is no match for the top end cars now, in GT3 it was brilliant and one of the fastest cars, not it is starting to get left behind by the younger breed like the Mazda 787B and the Toyota GT-One race car

Geschrieben

Actually, the Toyota GT-One in GT3 was probably the fastest closed wheel car in the game, but the GT40 always seemed a little faster than the 787B. I don't enter the GT40 in any series races, but it's my all time favorite retro mount. I have a CD of Brazillian bossa nova music that I listen to when I drive it.

Being the creative sort, one of the things I do to add a little more zest to Gran Turismo is I create a storyline. I pretend I'm a famous tuner, and the Tokyo police department wants me to develop a high-speed pursuit car for their narc squad. Becasue they're having such a hard time catching those smugglers in their ultra fast cars. But I have to work on a budget so the car can't be fully tuned, so I work with what I have ( mostly suspension work ). It's a fun challenge. I have a Subaru Legacy that I call the " B4 Interceptor ", it's bright white with low budget looking black wheels, just like a cop car.

Question, is the original Gulf car still in the game?
