E30 Conversion

Hi, im putting a 4.4 v8 engine into a 318IS coupe. I was wondering what over conversions people have done.

i've got a 318i sedan with the M42 inline four, i'm rather fond of that engine.

Isn't the computer work a bit hard to get the 4.4L in the E30?

i was thinking for a time about getting the M30 3.5L for my car, but i'm still thinking it over.

A 4.4 V8 in an E30? Wouldn't that throw the balance way off? At under 3,000 lbs, the E30 is very much a light weight after all.

yes, the E30 is light, and with the inline 4, perfectly balanced (assuming you have the 6 cylenders rear batter location). The 4.4L V8, being all aluminum isn't really heavier than the iron block M20 I6 used in 325, so it wouldn't be too bad. I've heard that the M70 fits in there, but i'm not tempted to try it.
