i had a good freind with one, it was a money pit like no other, but his revved past 10,000rpms, it was powerful, but only when the engine and turbos were both at their peak (which was only about a 1000rpm space) - at which point it pulled like no other.

The money pit you are talking about has to deal with the love hate relationship with the rotory engine. It is a well known fact that rotory engines can be very tempermental and quite costly if not worked on by a experienced menchanice of the rotary. The engine does not follow any conventional design concepts that is why it has the potential for such high revs and massive amounts of torque and horsepower. Most mazada dealers can't even work on the rotory but will charge you a arm and a leg. What you need to do is find a true lover of rotorys in your area and seek consultation from them. I hooked up with a rotory nut in the San Clemente CA. area. He owns a NA and a turbo two both on original engines with very low maintenance costs. The NA is at 140000 miles and the turbo two is around 90000. With proper care and maintence like any care the RX7 can be the love of your life.

my freind went to the local rotary engine (RX-7 club) and found a mechanic who specialized in japanese sports cars, and was well versed in the ways of rotary repair (he himself was working on importing the 3 rotary 2.0L). Just the same, it is an expensive car to keep going, but it was really neat. I dragged him with my Volvo 850 quite a few times. I would have him out of the hole, he would slowly pull even, as I was clearing about 4,700 revs (about 7,500-8,000 for him) - he just flew ahead, we would both shift to second, I would overtake him again. That thing flew if you could keep the revs right though. Then again, his car was broken every other month it seemed.

Sup Djfux69!!!

Yea, you gotz questions on the TII RX7s? Well lets start wit how much this guy wants the 400hp car for? then, how many miles does it have on the motor since the last rebuild?

I use to have a '91 TII. I tell you man, i had lotsa fun in it. It is alotta maintnence since i had to put in bout 1-2 quarts of oil every month. Check compression and keep a maintnence schedule. But after having this car, it taught me to look out for the future cars i will have and had. my car only had 300hp on it after i did alotta mods on it.

heres some websites:

Ill tell you man, TII motors dont last that long when they get over 450hp. but if the price is ryte. i would get it, do another rebuild, and have fun wit it. But it takes alot of dedication and care. As far as suggestions, you should learn more bout the positives and negatives bout the car and motor and ask yourself what is your ambition when you get this car. Dont get in it without learning the basics like i did. I learned it when i was in the rotary scene and i learned a hell of alot.
