S15 that was introduced January 1999. The car has very much from the R34 Skyline. Sad with this car is that its only RHD.

So S14 then is the last sold in LHD countries. Car was introduced 1994 and got a facelift in December 1996 wich was called S14a. They stopped selling the car at the end of 1999/2000.

The SR20DET is sure a very nice engine in Japan most tuners got it up to 600-800hp.

Also romours say there will be a new S16 2003 or 2004. Hope it will come in LHD.

Sweet whats an RHD and LHD? hehe and i was also wondering is there any way to get a s15 to america?

Yes as Seb said, the S15 is the newest, but they dont sell that here in the states, what you could do is buy a Nissan 240sx, take out the enginge that is already in there(KA) and drop in the Sr20DET (SR)..... then you have to start shipping parts from japan to make it a JDM S15, now I have to say that the car will not be completely JDM becase it is LHD, but it is a way to get an S15 silvia here in the states..... I have a friend who has done an S14 Silvia by taking a reg. 240 and swapping KA for the SR, and have a friend who is doing a Sil-Eighty (a silvia front end with a 180sx rear) with the SR conversion from the KA 240. The Silvia is a beautiful car and if you tuneit right it can compare to a Skyline(im serious). Also if you want to see what a converted S14 looks like (even thought it is very very ricey) watch F&F and its the car that Letty drives.

Just a little bit about the silvia that I know

Peace,

STEVEO!

:D

hey been trying to convert a s14

to a s15.

can you get me more info on how u gonna get it done?

anyway i got a reply frm nissan USA regarding on purchasing the new s15

silvia.

Heres the reply :

>>>Thank you for contacting Nissan North America, Inc. and allowing us the

opportunity to be of assistance.

The Nissan Silvia is not marketed in the United States.

Basically, this vehicle needs a great deal of modifications to pass U.S.

industry specifications on safety and emission standards. While there is no

doubt that this vehicle does attract a lot of attention and commands a high

demand in the market, as is apparent in the markets in other parts of the

world, the cost of modifications far exceed the profit possibilities of

introducing the same vehicle here in the U.S.

If you have additional questions please contact us directly at 1 (800)

Kimberly

sup all...

to answer silvia questions... any s13-s15 are tyte.

I wouldnt do a s-15 conversion. Its too much trouble and the chassis are quite different since the s14 is the heaviest of all the models(other than the 240sx convertable) and the s15 is the lightest.

I would stick to the s14 look. the only conversion that b tyte wit that car is the shark eyed look(jus molding in the headlights). Ive got friends that did alot to there cars and learned a hell of alot of crap.

Other than doing an sr20det or ca18det swap, lowering, rims, bodykit, performance, i think that b it!

However keep in mind that dropping any of the Sr20dets is not the only answer to tuning an usdm 240sx. Other solutions are.

Peace,

STEVEO!

Hey say hello to your friend! I am doing a very similar thing I am going for the Sr20det swap for my 1996 240sx, I will however keep the sleeper route and leave the outside as stock as possible, I just enjoy surprising people :-).

Back to the topic it depends by what you mean by best silvia. They all have its advantages and disadvantages.

The S13 sr20det arguably came with the best engine for big power upgrades. Even tho it is the weakest engine stock. This T25 powered Sr20det made a 205 hp and 203 ft/lb of torque. However it has non VVT cams as well as a high port design that allows it to be a much simpler engine when it comes to upgrading its turbo charger and other supporting mods.

The S14 and S15 engines are powered with the VVT system, as well as an better T28 turbocharger the S14 made 220 hp and 217 tq, and the S15 had a bump to 250 hp and similar tq. The S14 came with a 5 speed transmission, while the S15 made a jump to a 6 speed transmission, however this "upgrade" turned out to be a drawback as this transmission is weaker then the previous 5 speeds. It is also the most expensive engine to obtain and more difficult to to obtain power from once you replace the T28 turbocharger.

Personally I will be dropping a Red Top S13 sr20det into my 240sx due to being easier to work with. I only want to squeeze about 400 rwhp from it, (470 crank hp.)

Dropping a Ca18det.

Custom turbocharging the KA24e/de

And dropping a rb20det/rb25det/rb26det skyline engines.

if u want a truly sick car here in the states, screw bying an over prices skyline- or getting a 240 and putting an sr20det in it, You can take a 240 and fit a rb26dett in it, yes skyline engine/drivetrain in a Silvia, you are talking some serious possibilities here, plus Rediculous street Cred, while u wont be able to take the rb26dett to the same hp that is available for the skyline b/c of engine bay space, i can still see a good 600 to 700 horsepwer coming out, but in the much better balanced and lighter silvia , u are talking some serious motion,

as for a previous post that u can get a sr up to about a r34 lvl, well thats not gonn ahappen, sr20det max at about 600 horsepower, and thats with major internal, bolton-external mods, costing morw that what a skyline costs , as for the beautiful rb26dett, i have seen figure well into the 1000- the max i belive was 1625 or somewhere around there, but this engine easily makes up to 700 to 800 hp, with smart turbo and other such upgrades

Hi guys,

I'm from Australia and i guess we are lucky enough to drive on the same side of the road as the Japanese. and i must say i'm a bit of a fan of the cost effective (read bang for buck) nature of the S13. some of you guys think you can make a S15 buy putting the SR20 and 6 spd in to a S14??? They look compleatly different for starters (let me know if i'm wrong cause i don't know much about the American 240SX). Also the silvia's got heaver each reincarnation so S14 hever than S13 and S15 hever than S14.

In Australia it is quite popular for people to pull out a SR20 and put in a Skyline motor usually a RB20 or RB25. My thoughts are that the hever motor will ruin the handeling of the S13 (but they do well at the drags :) )

any way you guys might be able to help me out. I i'm keen on fitting a GReddy e-manage to my car but can only get Jap PC software for it. do you guys have english software for the e-mannage?

and if any one knows the easyest way (safely) to get 500hp from the SR20 let me know.

Hey guys, hey Marty

I'm from Australia too, and am lucky enough to own a s15.

The s15 is a very fast selling car over here, partly because it is so cheap ($40KAUD new) and has also won Motor Magazine's performance car of the year award when it came out (to give you an idea of the competition in this Aussie mag's line-up, only two other cars have won it - Porsche Boxster S and BMW M3) :)

For the cheap price you will not be able to find a better car. Rainy days will become your best friend if you own this car. This car was made for drifting.

The only gripe that I've got is that our s15 is a toned down version of the jap spec. To comply with Australian regulations on emissions, etc, power was brought down to 147 kw.

Not to worry, as there is a local company called APS (Air Power Systems) which designs performance upgrades for the s15. I paid only $5 grand for them to almost double my power. Now my s15 does ~190 kw at the rear wheels! The best thing about it is that APS gives you a set of documentation for the mods, ensuring that when the cops pull you over, you can prove to them that it is street legal.

Australia has very tight restrictions, so it is illegal to change the turbo, have an air filter with an intercooler, etc bullshit like that. That's why my car, and others like it, will be the fastest legal s15s in Aust. But street legal doesn't have to mean slow. A few weeks ago at calder I posted a 5.2 sec 0-100kmh and 13 flat quarter mile, after a few other small mods I did myself (eg., lineage).

As for differences between the s14 and s15:

S14 has a crappy factory turbo. To get more power out of it you really need to change the turbo.

S15 has ball-bearing bolt-on turbo. Without changing the turbo, you can easily get up to 280 kw at the flywheel.

S14 has crappy viscous LSD

S15 manual has helical torsen LSD straight out of the GTR (this LSD is kickass, I can tell you).

S14 has 5-speeed box

S15 has 6-speed box.

However, for modded silvias, the s14's 5-speed is actually better suited and stronger. For me, there is nothing more frustrating with my 6-speed than having to change from 2-3 just before 100kmh and from 3-4 just before the end of the 1/4 mile. The next mod I'll do is get hold of a s14 5-speed. People have cut off half a second from the figures. How bout that? 0-100 in 4.7 s and 12.6 s 1/4 mile. Stock GTR level power in a new s15 for less than $10k AUD mods.
