hi S8

i drove a 1993 model 3000 GT in the year 1994, long time back

the car was amazing, it was very powerful & comfortable & good loooking & the build quality was very good 2

i realy enjoyed driving it but there was some things i didnt like about it, first was the very very very light steering :???: a car that fast should have at least moderate

steering not a light one!! cos even heavy steering are not good for daily driving & for drifting

the second bad thing was the weak brakes :???: it should have much better braking power cos its very fast

but the most bad thing about this car is that it doesnt oversteer or can't do dounuts no matter what u do  i dont like cars that dont oversteer or cant do dounuts

but in general the car is very good  i loved it

but if i had to choose between the 3000GT or 300ZX, i'll take the 300ZX even though i didnt drive the 300ZX  & at the end it oversteers & do dounuts every time u want it 2

but the best car i ever ever ever drove was the great Skyline GTR R33 (1997), that car is simply crazy & amazing, did u ever c a 4 wheel drive car that can oversteer & do dounuts  this car can

driving it & look at it will leave a big smile on your heart as long as u live

Two heavy cars. If you guys didnt know the 300zx uses 4 wheel drive steering. Its hard to see it but it does turn on all wheels.

The 3000gt is a tank, seriously. It is very heavy, since it has a lot of gadgets on it.

Therefore I choose the 300zx.

Plus, it looks nicer, .

In case anyone is still reading this posting,

I own the first year of the last 300 ZX and my buddy owned the dodge stealth/300GT and even before I tweaked a single bit on my car I beat him flat out everywhere all the time. Starts, corners, etc.

The Z is heavy, but the 3000GT is EVEN heavier.

The Z has problems with the brakes too, but a simple DIY swap with Skyline brakes solves that.

My car now has over 400Hp and I pass Ferraris on the race track....

Well, the 300ZX is a good car, no doubt, it has an amazing engine, and it has a very nice design. That said, with some work on weight reduction, the 3000GT VR-4 (equivalent to a 300ZX turbo) , you can easily tune that car to be very very very fast. A dodge avenger/stealth has a naturally aspirated engine. If you have ever driven a moderately tweaked 3000GT VR-4, you will know it is very fast, and handles well - seats 4 - and according to car and driver, runs faster to 60 stock than a stock 300ZX twin turbo. An interesting note, both of these cars have midsize psuedo-lux cars built on their platform - the 300ZX has the Infiniti J30 (which had 4ws on the T model), and the 3000GT has diamante. While J30 was discontinued for the 98' model year, it is just interesting that these are so similar. I think it comes down to a matter of preference.

Sorry Fox,

the dodge stealth is EXACTLY equal to the 3000GT Mitsu only with different bodypanels. In the top model (which is the one my buddy had and raced against me) it had the 300hp engine and AWD.

The Avenger is a FWD econobox based on some other boring Mitsu sedan.

I`m surprised you would assume I could make that kind of mistake.

As far as the starts, I don`t doubt that if you start an AWD drive car with enough RPM and torque to light up the wheels you will get a better jump off the line and therefore a better 0-60. However, you better make sure it is a race car or that there is clutch shop nearby.

In normal daily traffic light races, the Z was faster until it started raining........

Now a supra, that`s a whole other ball of wax..............

I have never seen a turbocharged Stealth sold in the USA, although, the car I am talking about is the Mitsu 3000GT VR-4 - all wheel drive, 320hp, four wheel stearing and a 6 speed. Now, of course the first performance part for that car would be a larger (or heavier duty) clutch, it is still very fast. The twin turbo 300ZX was more responsive (3000GT turbo lag), but once the turbo was up to speed, the superior high end torque of the 3000GT would give it an advantage. As to what a european stealth would be like, I don't know. 4 wheel steering was definately a plus. and I agree, Supra is a whole other can of worms.

Hallo S8,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Andere Automarken (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

Both cars were US spec since we were both living in Detroit at the time.

US spec 300ZX had 4 wheel steering also known as Super-Hicas.

The only gimmick the Stealth RT-Turbo (that was it`s name btw.) or 3000GT VR4 had that the Z didn`t was that goofy exhaust switch that apparently did absolutely nothing.....

The following is a direct quote from Edmunds used car guide!!!

Listed under Dodge, 1991, Stealth

"Brand new sports car based on Mitsubishi 3000GT is available with front- or all-wheel drive. Four-wheel steering is standard with the all-wheel drive R/T Turbo model, powered by a twin-turbocharged 300-horsepower V6."

Also, "in 1994 RT/Turbo model gains 20horsepower......."

Sounds awfull familiar......

Where do you do your research?!?!?!?

Should I add a picture so you know what a stealth actually looks like?

I had never seen an "R/T Turbo" - I guess there is one. I know what one looks like. I know that the Super Hicas equiped a few years of the 300ZX. (i drove a '93 Infiniti J30t with Super Hicas once). The all wheel drive is nice. I apologize for not paying attention to the stealth. The 3000GT also had four seats. I see that as an advantage (haul 2 more freinds along). I do although also see how the driving dynamic could be compromised as oposed to a 300ZX - as the 3000GT was native to a FWD platform. I tend to think this argument is a matter of opinion. The 94' 3000GT was faster (320hp). I do my research in a number of places. My mistake.

I own a 1998 3000 gt vr-4, and while being a heavy car, when you are in it, it does not feel heavy. Performance mods, while not easy to come by sometime, add tremendous power. I know of a turbo kit that will bring hp up to 1100. And thats without NOS. The vr4 has all wheel drive and all wheel steering, which is activated over 30 mph, and assists in cornering. Go into a corner fast and deep, and you will be amazed at the road grip. Acceleration is amazing. I do not apply full throttle in 1st gear any more, it is too damn scary. And it is easy to break all 4 wheels loose in acceleration, although i dont recommend it, even in stock vr4's. Overall, the performance is stellar for a car with full leather interior, and all the emenities of a luxury car. Oh, and resale value on later vr4's is tremendous.

I like that beyond a car that performed stock equally well to a 300ZX Twin Turbo, it was a much better platform for modifications, furthermore it was much more luxurious, and seated 4. It is too bad they don't make it anymore, but my hope is that the Lancer Evolution (EVO VIII) will fill its void.

I drive a dodge stealth 1993 tt.At first i was dissapointed from the acceleration my stock stealth would give (but i was driving a 390 hp mustang coupe before...).But now, after putting a boost controller and a down pipe the car is really flying!I've run best of 13.35 107.4 mph whit a slipping clutch.I can tell you iwould love to race a 300zx with the same mods.

i can say I'd love to see that. The Mitsu 3.0 seems to be more able to deal with more power .

Xa xa xa!I`m from Bulgaria! Here we don`t have autobahns or highways like in the usa our roads are tight and with many corners!i have a mitso vr4 from 95 and it has 330bhp I made a drag race with zx,it was looking at my tail pipes all the time near my city(Varna) we have a special stage which is in rally Albena!I`t has over 80 corners and it is a beauty I drowe the both cars and zx is slover by 20 seconds! You just have to see how the gt goes in a U turn all covered with smoke from the tyres! The gt for me wins!

Geschrieben

The 300ZX would be my choice because it's got 4WD and it's lighter. And besides I've heard it's really easy to tweak it to 320HP (I'm not sure, it might be wrong). Ofcourse they're both good, and as far as looks go, I'd prefer the rear of the Mitsu., and for the front I'd prefer the 300ZX. And by the way, Vorros, I've seen a white '94 300ZX tweaked to 344HP absolutely school a ~360HP 3000GT.

Geschrieben

my friend the gt is also 4x4 yes it`s hevy but more stable on the turns and the driffting is just great and after all that what the fun is all about!Corners!!!

Geschrieben

Well man I don't know what Bulgaria is like (I've never been there; though I'll go one day), but I guess maybe the corners are your favorite there. Personally I prefer straightways for super-high-speed racing. And by the way I think the 3000GT should actualy do a worse job on the corners do to it's heavier weight (and besides I'm not sure about the 4x4 on the 3000GT; are you sure it's got it?).

Geschrieben

well!daaaaaaaa!i have one i supose i know!ok you like fast straights so do I but i think that the mitso gearbox is beter build (i`m not sure) that is hevy i still will pass a zx with the same horsepower!in a drag race between me and one friend with cl 55 amg we were even!the 55 is more havy I`m not sure about his skills of a driver! :) you have to come to Bulgaria some day here is great I will take you to the special stage ``alaja manastir`` its great! :Dnice tarmac and nice corners!
