bleh, bleh bleh,, you did something good and then you screwed it all up.....

In order to do a decent comparison, the only variable that should be in the equation is bore and stroke, if they dont share the same intake, cylinder heads and exhaust the comparison is worthless. It is good that you found something with a relative rating but its speed of the airflow that produces that torque... A good example that I can think of would be chevys 5.0's.. The 302 and the 305(the 307 falls apart so im not gonna mention it)

the 302 has a 4" bore 3" stroke

the 305 has a 3.736" bore and a 3.48" stroke, guess which one you can rev the piss out of and make tons of solid horsepower and which one is the low growling bottom feeder.

whats the difference between the torque at 2000-3000rpm in these motors?? and what years where these motors produced? obviously technology helps with power.

it is nearly impossible to find two factory motors that have different bore and stroke but have the same intake manifold, head, header(s), and exhaust.

my point was that compression and displacement make torque. the bore and stroke just help determine where in the rpms the torque is made.

the 302 sounds like a fun motor :D:D

The 302 was the original Z-28 motor, used for the trans-america race series.

4" bore.... 3" stroke. rated @ 290hp... made 400hp. Torque was rated at

This engine was only built from 1967 to 1969.. There aren't very many of them. Pressed pins, 5/16 bolts on the rods, 2" rod journal, 2.3" main

Sadly the compression was 11:1... The mains switched from 2bolt to 4 bolt in 1968 and the rod and main journals were made larger, floating pins, everything forged etc. high rise intake manifold, 2.02I 1.6E valves..

The 305 was designed to be an economy... Which is its pain in the ass, the smal piston creates valve shrouding. this engine was made in 1976-the mid 90's.

Sadly neither of these two engines had the same setup, but I am sure it has been doen in the aftermarket.. Mostly since everything from either engine other than the pistons swap straight over to the other

??????????????????? comon man what are the numbers? :)

ill even make a chart for you

motor..hp...tq

302....290...?

305....? ..... ?

im trying to find a torque rating on the 302... the 290 is at a low rpm, the engine makes power @ 7200, with a shift point of 7500.. pushing a 12.2 second 1/4 mile
