It's about time that thing proves something.

Is it one for the record books? Yes. Will the Egg carry on a legacy beyond the simple novelty of it's top speed? Probably not.

That record won't last long either if VW has anything to say about it.

LateNite, you hater,

The CCR is a beauty of a car. Handles gorgeously, flies, is elegantly engineered. I think you hate it because it's swedish. It pulled the world record for most powerful production car and top speed, and it pulled topspeed on a circle course. The McLaren set it in a straight line. On a long enough straight line, the CCR should push even faster. VW has lowered their rating for topspeed on the Veyron to "230+". Clearly the overly sophisticated design of the veyron bit it in the rear end. Koenigsegg kept it simple. No quad turbos and 16 cyledners, and 4 wheel drive. The koenigsegg with a ford V8, a supercharger, rear drive, and results got it done. You don't need something too extreme to get extreme results. You find me a car that outperforms the CCR. They are selling them as fast as they can make them. Moreover, I can buy 3 for the price of a veyron.

Hey, hows about a hello. Welcome back Kotter  .

No, I'm not a hater, but some cars exude egotism. Eggy is one of them. Strange how it garners national support, but then ultimately relies on American power.

It takes more than stats to share space with legends like the McLaren F1. The Eggy is race bred, but until it runs LeMans or something and proves it's metal against other cars in a real world performance competition, as opposed to a controlled speed test, it'll continue to be just a big show off. Even the tuner baby S7 is a LeMans veteran. I think maybe they're afraid their car wouldn't kick ass in a race, and the Eggy mistique would immediately wear off. I hope Sweden enjoys their 15 minutes.

This is a car from Sweden. They don't have the resources to put up a race team yet. I'm sure the egg could compete, because it outpowers and outhandles both S7 and F1. And hello, how are you? It's not american power. It started as an american block. It's been bored so it shares virtually no parts. It's a dry sump lube, new heads, blower, pistons, rods, crank, everything. Notice how when it's in the egg, it makes twice the horsepower, so it's really a swedish motor in a swedish car.

They don't call it a Ford block for nothing, twice the stock horsepower and all, and with the blower, it could have come from SVT. The block is like the skeleton of it all, the heart. You could completely switch out and modify everything inside a Mercedes V8, but it's still a Mercedes engine at it's core - litterally. But that's quibling, it's all semantics.

Sweden has the resources to develop and manufacture a worldclass sportscar, two versions of it, but they can't swing a race team? I don't see how it could be for a lack of potential sponsers. Sweden has race teams, Podium Racing has major sponsers and is one of the largest in the country. I say they just have cold feet.

And being able to out power and out handle other cars is all fine and well, but means little if your car can't last the race. Racing isn't just sport, it's a test bed for what works and what doesn't. Eggy hasn't a clue how their car would behave in a real race. Sure, it could compete, but how well? In a perfect world, every car would cross the finish line.
