no, go to a drifting event and see how it fairs. just cus something has a lot of torque and is rwd doesnt automatically make it a good drift car. just go to an event and youll see why. some of the newer domestics are good drifters, but they still had to be tweaked for it.

Geschrieben

Any RWD car in the hands of a good driver is a "drift car". No stock car is setup well for drifting at all, you may feel it's good for it, but it's probably not. No true "drift car" is on the stock suspension.

Geschrieben

oh yeah i know as i said it would need a better suspension right now i have a touring style suspension unlike most camaros with soft ride. She slides very nicely but generally sticks to the road. I have to ask my buddy about that sharp turn(mentioned earlier) though. because i remeber hearing the tires against the wheel wells i just wanna know if it went on two wheels, if so roll cage.

Geschrieben

Please tell me you're joking about the rollcage. If you want to stop the roll, do anti-roll bars and adjust them correctly. It's also not abnormal to get the car on 3, or even 2 wheels when driving it hard. Do you have larger than stock tires? You could just roll the fenders, but I am surprised that there would be rubbing unless you were on huge tires.

Geschrieben

yea yea its all about the driver, thats a given. but i would definitely think that a stock sti, evo, supra, z, silvia or even an 04 cobra gt would be a better drifter than a stock camaro especially an older one.

if the wheels are rubbing in the wheel wells then its definitely not a drift car from the factory. those spring rates have to be gushy. you would think that the oem spring rate at oem ride height would prevent rubbing though.

and 2 or 3 wheelin is totally normal on the track. you shouldnt need a rollcage unless you are breaking 12s(or whatever your local track requires) or have r compounds.

Geschrieben

yeah i was about the rollcage but if does happen again i would probably put in a brace, Stock tires..

Camaros aren't balanced as poorly as you think, but still pretty bad. The motors and the driveline are what help it. The suspension would have to be worked. Especially the Z-28 because they are tighter cars as far as suspension goes. A z-28 is more of a straight line lets go fast car

Geschrieben

i have wish listed them at jegs?? either way i am tight for cash but yes they are on the list.

Geschrieben

Tight for cash?

With the kind of expenses you've spoken of, I'm surprised you have enough cash to keep yourself in bath soap. Building up a muscle car, let alone a competition car on a grocery stocker's income can't be easy.

Hallo iroc-z89,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für US Cars (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

yeah i'm broke anyone want a Lincoln LSC Special Edition, it needs some new interior parts and about five wires hooked up, it will cost about $700 to $1000 to fix up nice, ill sell for 2K. If anyone is interested and wants more info ill post pics.

Yeah its hard as heck, im looking into collector plates right now, but im might just end up storing it for about 5 years and then start to completely restore her again and maybe some bolt ons. Right now i need a new key the vats resistor is dying. I have to clean it with windex every time I want to start the car. Otherwise the fuel injectors dont fire.

15mpg + $2per gallon > you :lol:O:-)

it sucks your car is still giving you problems. i feel your pain though. my first car was a real headache, too. i eventually just let a junkyard take it and cut my losses.

Geschrieben

Yeah i live in their house but for the past four years I have been buying my own clothes, up until last month buying all my food, on the x-mas/ b day stuff I usually give my girl some type of diamond jewelry, and pay for everything for my "muscle" car and my old lincoln. Plus I ended up paying for x-mas this year so............

And to top it all off right after I registered here, my job limited me to 20 hours a week ................20x6.40 hour-taxes=broke

Geschrieben

Please never use the word muscle when describing anything related to an IROC Z. By the way, not to get personal, but why did your parents disown you?

Geschrieben

get a job as a waitor or at least a busser at a nice restaraunt. youll start making some good $.

i know by diamond jewelry you mean cubic zarconium.

i buy my own clothes, food, car, insurance, computer, bla bla bla, too. but that has only been for the last 4 years, meaning since i was 18. ive also got just $ enough to finish my bachelors this year without taking a loan. bro, 6.40 an hour is no kind of life, but at least your bellow the poverty line so you get your taxes back.

but yea, why arent your parents charging rent?

Geschrieben

by diamond i mean diamond. And occasional diamond/sapphire stuff(when im broke).

Irocs are very quick (not fast) but they have piss poor small engines, it would have been nice if they used 302's instead of a bored over 262. But what are you gonna do its still one of the fastest things gm made in the 80's. I mean even the corvette's were junk. And I wasn't allowed to get my 69' Chevelle so this is my muscle car.

Rent? i am 17, hence why i asked for a waiver for the drag strip.

I finished HS on friday.

I decided years ago to become independent (14yrs old). My first job was in food service @5.50 an hour with 12-13 hour days; never again. Though the money does sound good. I am probably gonna sell my Special Ed. LSC, if I cannot come up with money. Basically, i come home to sleep, shower and use the computer.

Then off to St. John's for five years and store the Iroc.

My question is in five years restore again or drop a twin turbo 383 stroker with a richmond 6 and a 12 bolt?

i dont believe you. i hear 17 year olds say things like this all the time and i know not one of them has gotten close to the truth. ill admit it, i buy cubic zarconium for my girl on her birthday and christmas. im poor and she knows it. she wont be touching a diamond for another year.

congrats bro :-))!

the only thing i understood was twin turbo. nothing else made sense. but i assume its expensive. now where is this $ coming from again? i doubt selling the lincoln will net the costs.

why did you decide to be independant?? it really makes no sense from a financial standpoint.

dude diamonds are cheap like 200bucks for a necklace and 500-1000 for earrings, hence the diamond sapphires 130 for them, and when i bought the necklace I had cash to burn. Next up is a wristlet before I leave for college since i lost my watch. (citizen, i was gonna give it to her)

If I can find the receipts ill post um, its been about three and 6 months since then.

Here is a edumacation, if you ever try to race some one and they say 383 run.

Engines

383 = 4.030"(bore) x 3.76"(stroke) (5.565" or 5.7" or 6.0" rod)

350 block and a 400 crank, main bearing crank journals

cut to 350 size

or 383 = 4.000"(bore) x 3.80"(stroke) ('00, "HT 383", Gen.I truck crate motor, 5.7" rod)

Transmissions

Richmond 6 speed: GM 1-1/8'' 26 Spline

1st: 3.01

2nd: 1.88

3rd: 1.46

4th: 1.18

5th: 1.00

6th OD: .62 $3099.99

Rear End: GM12 or 14 bolt handles gobs of power, all of this alone without the turbo will put a car well into the 11's. Of you dont know what a 12 bolt is think of the ford 9".

As for money starting wages are @ 60K a year for a Bachelors degree, I will have a masters so 70-80K a year, and 30K in college loans to pay off in ten years.

Geschrieben

oh yeah stroker, the block is sent out and specially prepared ill get into it later, have a nice night.

Geschrieben

the jewelry conversation is over. even if receipts are posted i will not believe you.

the conversation about cars is worthwhile though. so what compression ratio will the combo give?

that transmissions setup is really really nice, but with your axle ratio what mph would the shift points be? something like 40, 65, 85, 105, 125, then 6th goes on till well over 200.

what are you going to school for? you shouldnt count your chickens till they hatch.

Geschrieben

if i were to do it, i would give it some real low gears, like 3.95's or 4.11's

hey is this worth my time 1964 Corvair Convert, I have to call the guy everything is there looks like original paint and interior, engine is in the passenger side. It seems to be complete

I agree, don't count the chickens too soon. Forcasting a solid dollar amount that you will make by having a certain degree is a little over simplified. Like 70-80k right off the bat. Best of luck to you, but one thing to know about college is that it's not a golden key to easy street. Lot's of people want that 70-80k job, if it's even available. And about having a 14 year old working 12-13 hour days, doesn't even sound legal.

hey is this worth my time 1964 Corvair Convert.

000_0087.jpg

You say the engine is in the passenger seat? This Corvair rag top, and I do mean rag, while certainly unique it looks pretty rough. How much does he want for it? Either way, you need money, not another car. Right?

If you bought it, you could make money parting it out. Though I've always found that practice morally wrong for all but the most junked cars.

Geschrieben

the car seems to be all original and everything seems to be there, it doesn't look like the top is ripped and the front seat are almost mint, the rear seat is garbage. Here is what i would selling,
