I don't know what happend... for some reason he removed the pics. :(

I got permission from him to post them here so it couldn't be that.

They work now, those are big pictures. That car's fate doesn't strike me as an unussual one, but yeah, thats' pretty crumby. Be glad it was only a Civic.

Geschrieben

Well I kinda feel for the guy, he's been talking about the car for days and when he finally gets is he crashes it. Good thing his insurance is going to pay for it.

What happend is:

Was out testing the new car.. it got dark, i didnt know the road.. came to a s curve with to high speed. and i didnt notice it was an s curve untill to late.

Could've happend to any of us. Opposed to ussualy assholes this guy is not rich and he worked his arse off for that car.

That doesn't sound like the kind of situation insurance would cover, but it's very fortunate that they did. And he's not a rich guy who throws perfectly good cars away for a hobby, so that changes it a bit. Hope he gets another car he likes just as much.

Thats' good, now don't roll it. Jeez, everyone is getting in on the Huge badge trend, check out the big Honda "H" on the grill, how tacky is that?

Why is it those rims make me think BMW?

It's the skinny split spoke design, the finest iteration of which is represented in the old M-Parallel wheels in my opinion.

This particular 740 is not mine by the way.

Hallo GIR,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Andere Automarken (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

The old seven can look very nice and imposing with a good set of rims and tires.

Geschrieben

Agreed, it's just timeless. It's one reason I'll probably always have mine.

Geschrieben

the only thing is i wish they made an old shape 7 series with a powerful m power engine that would have been epic with a wide low-slung bodykit and those fabulous m power rims and low profiles would have made a fantastic machine, although the new 7 series is not as timeless as a old 7 series it is like a fashion item the new 7 series :???:

The closest thing to the old 7 you're talking about was the Sport model, available for the 740, which is the one I have, and later the 750. Shadowline trim, M-wheels, serious sports rated Michelins, lower final drive ratio, higher stall speed torque converter, firmer and lower suspension, Steptronic transmission, etc. It's an awesome drive.

I suppose you could always transplant an E39 M5 motor and trans into one, and there you have it!

Let me ask you, did they have anything like the 740 Sport in the UK?

Then why don't you do it? Sounds like it'd be a bad ass car if you did that.

Geschrieben

wait what motor is in the newer civic type r over there? if its the 220hp one ... i want it

Geschrieben

yeah we had 740 sports in the uk but an e39 m5 transplant with a manual box strikes me as having great potentiol or maybe bmw may use the new v10 in the 7 because of audi's a8 6.0 v12 so maybe some kind of super saloon could be in the pipelines at bmw

Geschrieben

I doubt BMW will use that V10 for anything but the M5 for a long time. It was specially made for the upcoming M5 and they aren't going to just throw in their best engine in any BMW regular series. They aren't like Mercedes ;)

Geschrieben

And don't forget the M6. I see the V10 being an M-car exclusive, a detuned version for regular production is not likely.

As for a 7-Series, if there were ever a " super 7 " a hotter V12 would probably be used, and not the V10.

Transplanting an E39 M5 motor and trans into a 740 Sport would be a tempting thought. A regular unofficial M7.

could be this would be like e class brabus that had 650bhp could we see hyper saloons , a level beyond that of the m5 and audi rs6 and yet japan have achieved much better performance with a lot less power but then again honda or subaru could use either the legacy or accord as a base for a new high powered saloon i believe now japan make great cars but that edge they have had for so long is been eaten away by other manufacturers :o

Geschrieben

Any high powered saloon based upon a Legacy or Accord, would most likely be viewed as such. They are not within the same class as mid-level German luxury cars like the 5-Series, E-Class, or the Audi.

A Lexus GS could be transformed into a German performance/luxury fighter however, but then Lexus is not really focused along these lines.

Geschrieben

lexus are nice to drive especially the 350bhp vertex bi-turbo but they could use the v8 from the sc430 and let trd of toyota fettle with it and a turbo on that engine and dumping it in a modded lighter weight gs430 could be a black day for stuttgart

Geschrieben

Or at least a gray one.

I'd like to see the Japanese get in on the super sedan competition. It's pretty much a closed circus for BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and outside competition from Jaguar. An entry from Lexus would be a fresh addition. And with a twin-turbo V8, TRD developed Lexus GS, they could have a real player. I can see it being more along the lines of a Japanese AMG.

In the U.S., Toyota is trying to break into the sports truck segment, so why not a Lexus super sedan?

Geschrieben

maybe the manufacturers should listen in on these kind of forums they could get a lot of ideas from us :-))!

Geschrieben

I think someone does listen, and once in a while, the suits listen too.
