Now, before you argue, I'm gonna say that I know this is better suited in the Compares section. But I think a poll would be best on this topic.

Ok, we have 5 german luxury cars, top of the line. The Audi A8, BMW 760li, Maybach 62, Mercedes-Benz S600 and the Volkswagon Phaeton.

Audi A8 - V12 - $120,000

BMW 760li - V12 - $120,000

Maybach 62 - V12 - $360,000

Mercedes-Benz S600 - V12 - $125,000

Volkswagon Phaeton - W12 - $100,000

Now I'm not sure on everything, but I looked most of it up. I suggust you look up these cars, and some cool features before you decide. Don't just say BMW because you like them when if you had looked into it you would have liked the Phaeton more. For stats, go on there brand homepages or supercars.net . For pics, I would suggest cardomain.com .I don't think that one is really the best, it's more of an opinion. Not just luxury or performance. Altogether, what's the best car for YOU. They all pretty much match performance wise. And as I stated earlier, Could one of the mods put a poll on this please.

I could make a poll for you if you can tell me what the hell the Maybacj is doing in the lineup.

As a person who has owned a S500 and driven a A8 I can say that if it's a luxury sedan you want, you should definatly go for the S600. Although I've been hearing some good things about that VW Pheaton I'm not so sure if you should buy that one.

I mean when you people you drive a Benz you will get some respect nomatter how expensive it is. But if you tell people you drive a VW then they will look down on you, nomatter how expensive it is.

Well, it's a german luxury car too. It has a V-12, it's fairly fast. It might be mugly, but god is it a beautiful car inside.

Well, I put in my vote for the Maybach. Only because it qualifies as " the ultimate ". Not that I would ever want one, or that I think it is the best, but only because it offers more of everything. It's certainly not the best looking in my view, just " ultimate ".

It has an unfair advantage over every other car listed of course.

Benz S600 I think should be the tops of all the others, 7-Series isn't what it used to be.

The Audi A8L 6.0 is a W12 and starts around $117,000.

It'd be close from the Audi A8L 6.0 or MB S600 but i choose the MB S600.

Now this might be a toss up. I'm sure the Maybach is a very comfy and luxurious car, but the S600 just looks better. Some larger, more expressive wheels and the Bach could look okay. I certainly would like to try out the rear accomodations.

Seriously, it's a w12, oh well...... No wait, you're talking about the A8L 6.0, I'm saying just the A8L, but let's pretend there the same. I suprised that the A8 isn't getting any votes. It's a really beautiful car.

Some would say that the A8, and other Audis' is very bland in appearance. It's obvious that they are trying to be " modern artsy " with it, but I for one think it looks like a huge glossy bar of soap. The interior of course is another matter. Audi creates some of the richest interiors in the business, mainly because they care to.

Yes, they do. I guess I shouldn't of put the Maybach in there. It doesn't belong. Not to mention the Mercedes S600 Pullman is way nicer. Oh, and I sat in an A8 on Saturday. I think I like it more than the 7-series.

the 760Li, becuz for one BMW makes one helluva V12, and as y'all can see i'm a bit biased towards V12's.....LOL, and i've heard that its also the best handling big car out there, not that handling matters in this class, but its a plus, ppl buy benzes cuz of the name the made for themselves over the years, but i guarantee that anyone who sits in a bmw will have their motto of "The Ultimate Driving Machine" smacked into their brain waaay before the salesman can tell em thas the motto of BMW.

I don't understand what everybody likes about 760. I think it's almost as bad as the new 5-series. It's ugly.

i don't know, but it might, jus might be the fact that it drives so much better than the rest, the fact that it has one of the best engines in the world, and the fact that it prolly handles better than everything else in its class, and the fact that its also one of the cheapest in its class.

funny story = i got yelled at by a bmw representative for trying to steal the oil cap off the 760 at the NY Auto Show, LOL

I don't either, Although it is the best handling car in it's class. it's still just your standard E65/6 7-Series that everyone ( with good taste ) has always hated the looks of, just with a V12.

It's obvious that BMW has tried to make the E60 more appealing over time, with sportier wheels and blacked out trim, anything to make it seem leaner than it is.

* Hint for V12 - steal a tire valve cap instead, simpler to hide, and it's real metal.

It's still just your standard E65/6 7-Series that everyone ( with good taste ) has always hated the looks of, just with a V12.

Well, now I think I have the answer, I'll do a little review on these cars just to tell you what I think.

A) Audi A8

The Audi A8, at first appearance is a very casual audi look, but with a little more spice and inches. You can tell it's not a snobby rich guy's car, but not a poor man's car (for sure). Your going to see this car from every glimpse so you start walking around it. You hit the back seat and decide to sit in it.

Very nice you think to yourself, it has 5 seats and if more luxury is needed 4. The backseat legroom is enough to comfort your 6 foot tall body. And it has a nice little dash too. You pull down the armrest in the middle and come across some little doosies, but you don't really care. Stepping out, you continue to take a circle around the car and you stop at 180 degrees.

You look at the very distinct rear. It doesn't look like a normal Audi, it seems more like it's brother (sister) Volkswagen Phaeton in the end. The exterior seems very bland to you, but special, in it's own Audi way. Now, how many golf clubs can I fit in here? Let's see.

Maybe 8. So you keep rotating around the car. You stop at the driver seat's door and open it.

Not moving you glance at Audi's extrodinary appeal at this car. You take your seat and look around you.

Wow, is the only thing you say. You see that the navigation system is flipping out.

You look down at the knob that controls the system. Oh no, This is going to be like that crappy i-drive BMW has invented, or the buttonous Mercedes. You pray (if your religion does that) and hope that you can work this. You start. Hmmm, it's not that hard, it has 8 surrounding buttons (just enough) and you don't have to scoll at the suspension to turn up the frikkin' volume.

You thing that the Audi command system isn't bad, well, it's better than any of it's competitures. Now you want to get to the good part, driving the beast. Just as you drill the gas, you feel like you in something really special (you are). You go quick (in the V-12, faster, but I have to review the 8 cylinder(I don't know why)) You like the speed, and you have a feeling that the car is lighter than any other luxury car you've driven. You're reckon it's around 4,500 pounds. Stopping, you just sit ther looking at the amazing dash again. You get out, and pop the hood of this bad boy.

This engine is SWEET. It has a very clean look to it and it isn't THAT big. After surching at the engine for a while you decide to ask about the warrenties and stuff. The car starts at $70,000 (V8) and a good warrenty (I won't get into that). Altogether you, think the car lis excellement one of if not the best in it's class.

Thanks for the tour 8-ball . I rate it 8.5 for entertainment value. Your observations are astute as well. Kind of reminds me of the LateNight and PolarFox series. Sure wish he would come back sometime.

we gotta hit up some new cars with our series. I've got lots to say.

The A8 is a great car, it's very balanced and always feels in its capacities, very comfortable, well appointed, MMI works wonderfully, it is however, how shall i put this, despite that engine and being aluminum, slow.

I own one, but it was not my choice.
