I think attainability holds some weight. How can one choose Italy based solely on the merits of Ferrari or Lamborghini. The overall quality of product of a nation's auto industry should be taken into consideration as a whole. Afterall, it's not really fair comparing a bunch of $200,000 sportscars to say, most of the offerings of Japan.

Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, or even Masarati or Ivenco for that matter should probably be the focus in terms of Italian automobiles. Ferrari and Lambo would definitely be contenders in a " best sportscars " topic.

Well, yeah, if thier greatest sports car were the criteria, we'd have enzo of italy vs. bugatti of german occupied france, lotec or dauer of germany, koenigsegg of sweden, S7 of the US, and some mutilated skyline representing the land of the rising sun, england of course would have the german sympathetic F1 or true anglophilic XJ220.

And anyone who would bitch about any one of those cars has serious problem.

I still firmly believe that Italians make the best cars in the world, and nothing anybody says (except news of a Ferrari SUV) will make me change my mind.

If you were the head of Ferrari SpA., would you not build a one-off for the Sultan himself? Anyways, wagon is slightly more acceptable, because we all know what an RS6 Avant can do, and we all know what the Cayanne cannot do.

the cayanne's on road performance is the real deal, it might not be any better than the 4.6is's, but 4.6is was discontinued. If a 4.8is shows up, then it's on!

The RS6 avant is scary, but then again, everything it can do, E55 and M5 estates do/will do better. Just imagine it, pulling up next to some guy in a viper with the whole family in your M5 estate, and then beating him. Little timmy can flick him off from the back seat as you pass him!
