What could be done to make them great? Because as far as I can see, the whole shape is wrong, with the possible exception of the new 6, which frankly would be rather hard to mess up. As for most of his designs, it would take a heavy sheetmetal redesign to make them right. The front and rears could be redone to take on a cleaner appearance, but the profiles, as in the case of the 7 would still look really " heavy ".

His designs may be great on paper, in a futuristic techno space vehicle kind of way. But production wise, they don't seem to translate very well. I don't think anyone could look at a current 7-Series for example and honestly say that it gives the impression of being quick and reletively manuverable. With the E38, that effect could be made easily.

If you notice the new 5 and 7, you'll see that the flanks are very flat and broad, and the rooflines are very arched, making the cars look like a swollen lump of metal, and surprisingly, even big rims don't alleviate this effect very well.
