hey, my land rover has locking differentials, you can imagine some of the things i can get it to do!!! :D

The jaguar's electronics are way too sophisticated (and can't be shut off), so the fun that can be had in the snow is pretty limited.

The Suzuki has way too balanced of a handling bias, and very large tires, but it does some cool stuff in snow (just not like the land rover).

But my volvo easily handles the snow better than the suzuki, even in 4wd. I drive well above the speed limit on totally snow covered roads in absolute confidence. It is all about controlling slippage. A rear wheel drive car, when driven correctly is much much more stable at handling in snow than a front wheel drive car. My preference is a rear wheel drive in the snow, unless it is deep deep snow, at which point, 4wd gets nice.

how do you think the stock shocks would hold up to a 1inch drop on the car?

Geschrieben

they'd hold up. it wouldn't work well. the ride would be hell, handling would be odd, it would work, but it wouldn't be the best option. car'd handle better if you put some bilsteins in there anyhow.

With a 1-inch drop, speed management would be much better. I've experienced this a lot. And handling is irrelevant when driving at higher speeds anyway. So it's good.

a one inch drop is usually done also for higher spring rates, and as such, greater handling. Handling not at super high speeds would much benefit from doing the suspension right, and doing a set of performance shocks with the springs. the shocks that come stock were never intended to be used with a drop in suspension ride.
