The Italian sports car builder has announced its Ferrari 360 Modena-fighter, codenamed L140, will carry the name Gallardo (pronounced gayardo) after a famous fighting bull breed created in the 18th century by Francisco Gallardo. Lambo’s mid-engined all-wheel-drive car will be powered by a 500-hp 5.0-liter V10 mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a traditional shifter or steering wheel shift paddles. The car makes its official debut in Geneva on March 4 and goes on sale in May. Expect a sticker price in the $160,000 range. Top-end Touareg? Lamborghini is planning to launch a V10-powered version of the Volkswagen Touareg/Porsche Cayenne by 2006, according to a report in Germany’s Auto Bild magazine. Sant’ Agata’s high-end SUV is said to be based around a platform already under development at parent company Audi. Power for Lamborghini’s new mudslinger is rumored to come from a reworked version of the Gallardo engine. Normaly open the doors!! !!
