Anyone want to sound off on the best body style for a performance car?

There seems to be a lot of debate with many different cars in this area, I thought a poll of it would be interesting.

I love the lines of a coupe. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Cab, but if I were to get in an accident I would want steel around me. I also think, and back me up on this coupe guys/girls, coupes handle better then cabs. My two cents worth.

Defainetly Coupe.

Sedan/Wagon and Estate... obvious I guess.

Cabrio just has too much drag with the top down and doesn't always have sleak lines.

I think all of those cabs are great looking cars, but I would not have one. First the climate has to be right for one, the older they get the seals don't fit as well and you might get some leaks, and the coupes handle better from what I am told. You can't really leave out wagons. What about the S4 wagon, the Avant. I would never buy one of those over the sedan, but they are not that bad looking.

all of the cars I posted have fully lined positively sealing convertible tops, so issues with climate and leaking should be minimal, but best of all, on the sunny days, they are untouchable in fun and cool factor.

Lets not forget abotu the Audi RS4 and RS6. Beatifull estate's, tuned by Lambo and faster then a Porsche!

I guess it's more a matter of taste then a matter of numbers. I personally like Coupe's te most, but a Carbio or a Sedan can also be nice.

RS4 and RS6 are faster than SOME porsches (like mine), but not all of them.

they still look like wagons, they don't have the flowing lines of a true car. a wagon is a device of utility, not of beauty.

What I ment was that it's faster then all the current production models (more power and faster 0-60), correct me if I'm wrong.

Estate, Wagon, who cares.. it's late and I'm sleepy.

/edit: Ofcourse you really can't compare the Porsche experience with a Audi. I really doubt a person on the street would know the difference between a RS6 and a regular Quatro. Altho a person on the street would also not know the difference between a GT3 and a 911 Tubo the only thing they would know is that It's a Porsche and the prestige that name brings is a little higher.

A 911 Turbo does 0-60 in 3.9.

Neither an RS4 nor RS6 will best that.

Hallo thepolarfoxqx,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Verschiedenes über Autos (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

According to the Dutch and USA Porsche site the 911 Turbo has a 0-60 of 4.2, the RS6 also has 4.2. The RS6 has a dry weight of 1800KG.

An RS6 in the united states weighs in at approximately 4,050lbs, a 911 Turbo at just shy of 3,350lbs.

Car and Driver magazine track tested an RS6 with an automatic to 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, and their track test 0-60 number for 911 turbo is 3.9 seconds.

I don't know about car&driver but TopGear tested the RS4 at 4.7 and the RS6 at 4.2. Anywayz the RS4 and RS6 are beatifull Wagons, I'd buy one.

How about the Panoz Esperante's body? The sportier performance version with the bodywork I mean.

the esperate is a beautiful car. I wish panoz would start using the supercharged ford V8s (or atleast 5.4s)

The best bodystyle comes down to personal preference. Coupes and Cabriolets' are fun but I think it would be safe to say that in terms of structural rigidity, most sedans are above both. Like, my four-door M3 is actually a better handling platform than the comparable E36 coupe and also has a slightly less raked windshield.

An Estate/Wagon you can't beat for practicality. Styling wise it depends on the car. For example I prefer the current 3-Series coupe over sedan and just the opposite in say a Pontiac Grand Prix.

That is because no one cared to finish the job on the designing the grand prix coupe. If you forgot to cut holes for doors on the grand prix sedan, you'd have the coupe. For the new platform (and 2004 model year) they dropped the coupe all togehter (GM's manufacturing process is so good now they don't forget to cut rear doors on any of them anymore)

The coupe is nearly the equal of a sedan in rigidity. Some cases more so due to the lack of rear doors. It depends on the car. I like the feel of a coupe, but the practicality of a sedan is nice.

I'd have a hard time with a wagon.
