Offen ein absoluter Hingucker. Scheint sehr gut in Schuß zu sein. Wenig Laufleistung. Klasse "Stack"-Anlage mit TV. Geschlossen wie zumeist bei den S-Klasse Cabrioumbauten der 80iger nicht ganz stimmig.

Der Kodiak nimmt seine Inspiration eher vom Mercedes C111. Angeblich wurden sogar dessen original Formen verwendet.

Dieses Fahrzeug wurde mindestens schon 3 Mal auf Ebay angeboten. Es wird sich nicht einmal die Mühe gegeben die Bilder auszutauschen. Es muß doch wohl möglich sein, dieses exklusive Schätzchen zu Verkaufen. Da sollten sich die Leute mal die umfangreichen Informationen von Carpassion zu Gemüte führen um zu merken, was ihnen da eventuell entgeht!!

Hier in Stuttgart sehe ich seit Jahren ab und an einen roten E24, recht spätes Modell, von Gemballa. Zwischen den Rücklichtern ist ein Einsatz, eine Rückleuchtenblende ohne Nummernschildausschnitt aber mit schwarzem Gemballa Schriftzug. Etwas Porsche Stil steckt in der Idee. Dazu eine dezente Verspoilerung, ähnlich der M6 und 16 Zoll-BBS RS, mit goldenem Stern.

Hat jemand Bild oder Infos zu solch einem Auto? Wäre nett!

Die Sbarro-Unterlagen weisen 8 Verkäufe aus, innerhalb der Jahre 1981>85. Die NPe begannen mit 200,0TSFR (>240,0TDM). Die Einfuhr nach West-D ging über eine Firma in 6805 MAnnheim-Heddesheim. Mit Zoll und sonstigen (Zulassungs-)Gebühren sowie Handelspanne lag der Endpreis nahe an 300,0TDM (>240,0T€/2011).

This example is an automatic, these cars were also available with a 5 speed manual and with a bi-turbo engine 5.0. When new these cars started at 250,000 German marks. The Swiss based Franco Sbarro Company still does business on high end vehicles.

At first look this indeed looks like a W126 chassis vehicle. As a eagle eyed reader pointed out this has the W116 dash, something I easily recognize from my days of 6.9 ownership, and distinctive U.S. market 116 servo climate control center console, something my 6.9 didn’t have being grey market.

Two sources I used in digging up some info, Customizing and Tuning Mercedes by Heitz and Neff and Extraordinary Automobiles by Vann and Asaria both list Sbarro as using 500SEC W126 chassis as the basis for these conversions, calling it first the Shahin 1000 and then the 500 Portes Papillon Gullwing. It turns out they did use 116 chassis parts when using the 6.9 liter engine as opposed to the 5.0 or the 5.0 twin turbo option. Apparently the 6.9 motor was not available with the twin turbo option. It was one or the other, though who knows, money could lead companies like this to do strange things for customers.

There is also some wonderful additional photos and information available over at www . 1000sel . com which quotes directly from the Vann book and uses the same photos from that book.

I dug through my auction archives and two of these have sold in the past that I have records for. One in 1997 and one in 2002. Both were 6.9 engined and chassised models. One sold for $40,575. I have extensive photos for both and descriptions for anyone interested. Neither one appears to be this car.

I couldn't see any bits from a W126 in there, it's all W116 and custom pieces...I own a W116 so it's all pretty recognizable This is a W116 based Sbarro and is much rarer than the W126 based versions, it's more than just an aftermarket kit too, it's a radical work-over of the W116 S-Class, the simple fact that it is a coupe is itself a major change as there was no W116 coupe put into production. It has a W126 rear end but that looks about all to me. It's obviously based on a 450SEL 6.9 W116 The back end looks W126 but much of the interior including the instrument cluster is W116, the headlights are W116 and the engine is a real M100 6.9

Even more extreme: Sbarro's four-door. - Although all the previous Gullwings I mentioned were based on the Mercedes SEC or at least had the coupe bodyshape there was one exception when it comes to Mercedes-Benz S-class (W126) based Gullwings: the 1986 Geneva Motorshow saw Franco Sbarro present the "Sbarro Berlina Gullwing 4", a 500SEL Mercedes based car with not two but four Gullwing-type doors! This car was a one-off and again made for the Sultan of Brunei.

War schon häufiger angeboten. Mir als Sbarrofan gefällt diese "Amerikanisierung" mit den Rädern überhaupt nicht. Die Felgen selber passen gar nicht und gerade die hinteren Radkästen "verschlucken" die Räder ja förmlich.
