Sighs, wtf is MB doing?! Why is that car named CLK DTM AMG?! That car isn't anywhere near DTM specs and lets not talk about the fact that it's built by AMG and not HMA!

God I hate the American way of thinking AMG picked up with the Chrysler merger! They just slap on some stuff make it as powerfull and big as possible! Give it a fancy name and a overpriced pricetag!

BRING BACK THE OLD AMG!

I'm sure that if HMA has any say in the matter we would've seen a tottaly different car.

Having said that, although the car is nothing but a CLK with DTM bodykit and further tuned AMG V8SC, it does have some pretty sweet numbers.

It copies a bit the DTM body, but the engine is not even by far the DTM one.

Hasn't that always been the AMG way? I think MB was doing this long before the merger, although this about as close to redneck marketing as a German car could get. Like the DTM equivelant of a special NASCAR edition Chevy MonteCarlo, but at least the Mercedes has something going on under the skin.

Speaking of the CLK DTM AMG, this three digit moniker business is getting way out of control.

According to the AMG site this car doesn't have a Supercharger. It has a compressor fuel pump...

If so then this is a pretty sweet car! 700nm torque available from idle which runs upto 800nm at 3500 revs. The torque line is pretty flat, this car truely has alround power. I would live to get my hands on one of those, even if it has been branded DTM.

I still wonder why MB incists on using kompressors when Bosch has much better electrical pumps available. BMW uses them and so should MB.

i thought it had a tweaked V8 from the sl55...strange they dont mention a supercharger on their site.

GIR, what is this thing called a compressor fuel pump, and how is it better than a blower? Also, in what application does BMW use them?

Geschrieben

What GIR is talking about is a device that takes place of direct fuel injections, SDS's or turbo's.

A compressor fuel pump runs strictly off the compressed heated vapor from gasoline.

The pump compresses the fuel and air inside itself, then the gas is heated to increase evaporation.

Then the valves controlled by the driver's increased acceleration makes the compressed vapor shoved into the combustion chambers.

So thus makes power in all of the RPM ranges even from a stand-still and then creatin even more power the higher in RPM's u get.

Also the Higher in Octane gas u go obviously the significant increase of HP u'll receive.

By doing this way it is dangerous but hell u drive a bomb everyday back and forth 2 work.

This method is a far better for producing massive HP and a more efficient way 2 burn fuel and reduce the excess waste of gas in the car creatin less air pollution..

This would be more of an EXTREME "environmentally" safe practice besides hybrid technology. Only the brave "enviromental activists" would try this solution.

Geschrieben

Sounds extreme alright, but it must not be as risky as it sounds if they can equip road cars with it reletively safely. It sounds like the main concern would be that the internal components are strong enough to take it. Or if something were to go wrong, that they could contain it.

And it's environmentally friendly you say? Hmmm, interesting.

Yep, I don't see 700Nm on a BMW... Why do u say they are being use by BMW?

Hallo All Wheel Drive,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Mercedes (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

No I ment the Bosch fuelpumps. Bosch has some pretty advanced fuelpumps which are used by BMW. MB should use those aswell.
