I dunno it looks ALOT like Audi is tryin 2 make a car that mimic's or impersonates the BMW 5-series.

Still a gr8 lookin car though nonetheless.

And also accordin to Audiworld.com it does the 0-62mph in jus under 6 seconds.???

Just under???????

For a W12 rated at 420hp shouldn't it do a helluva lot better than that considerin the M5 does 0-60mph in 4.8??

And they say it has an unbeatable low weight of 1980kilo's or 4,365lbs.

Since when has 4,300+lbs unbeatable much less low weight??

Even with the Audi quattro AWD *correct me if i'm wrong* it would jus barely keep up with the EVOIII in 1/4 miles.

If u ask me this is a bunch of bullshit and they can keep this car as far as i'm concerned.

Even the 2004 M5 tips the scales of 4,024lbs and has 26hp and 38ft/lbs torque less and prolly does cost less than this new Audi.

Only thing i see it has better than the M5 is it has AWD and the M5 has rear wheel drive.

I'd still take the M5 over it. With 1.1L less, 341lbs less, 26hp 38ft/lbs fallin short, RWD and looks better IMO and its still faster?

Which one would ya'll choose?

The interiour looks the same, the exteriour is also the same except for the grill.

BMW 5 series? Where did you get that from? The 8 doesn't look anything liek the 5. If they would copy from BMW they would copy the 7 because they're both in the same class.

audis a8 changed already this year. they already have plans for the next? im not sure if i like the grill. and im with GIR in saying you cant compare the a8 to the m5. if anything a8 to the 7 series, amd m5 to the rs6.

Nah it's just a A8 with a Novulari grill and Novulari tailpipe. I never heard that VW was going to use their W engines in Audi cars. Personally I'm a little sceptic.

Skyline: you said that it should be faster since it has 420 hp and a W12 engine... It has 335 hp from a V8 engine. I don't know where you got that info... Under 6 seconds in a 335 hp 4,300 pound sedan seems pretty good to me.

Under six seconds is pretty damned good, period. Especially for a 5-person luxury sedan.

Dude did u even goto the site that he provided? It even showed the engine bay showin 2 set's of 6 cylinder's conjoined.

How u get a V8 out of that pic??

You're thinking about the 2004 Audi A8L 4.2L and its a V8 at 330hp not 335hp like u said.

This pictured IN the site that u were pose 2 goto is the Audi A8L 6.0L Quattro. It has a W12 engine rated at 420hp.

Here's a site 2 give u sum insight if u won't goto the site that Dresol gave u.

The W12 in that picture does not realy look like the W12 I've seen last year at the automobile exhibit in Paris at Audi's stand. The one in the picture looks a like a normal V12.

For me it's something fishy ablout that pic...

yeah, that doesn't really look like most of the W engines i've seen either. it could just be the cover, but i don't know how much i trust that. I'm not impressed by a 4,300lb car running to sixty just shy of 6 with 420hp, for one, the M5 is a 4,100lb car with 394hp, so really, the A8 should be faster. The 4,450lb 760Li with 440hp runs to sixty in the low 5s, so i don't see what the big deal is about. All it is, just like GIR said, is a new grille and exhaust tip.

And as for someone bringing up the RS8, audi corperate headquarters has now more than once publically said they WILL NOT build the RS8 for reasons of practicality.

Hallo Dresol,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für Audi (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

Exactly fox u hit the nail on the head. It's actually sad to see it that slow.

I seriously hope it makes up 4 the lack of 1/4 mile speed in 1/2 mile(1000m) than in 1/4(400m).

From wat i've seen its lackin, alot.

It also said it reaches it max speed of EG 155mph in 38 seconds.

38 secconds to 155? That sounds decent. All wheel drive cars typically triumph in the low end you know? Top end the extra driveline drag catches up. The 0-60 shows this doesn't have bottom end, so i'm not too sure it has top either. 38 secconds to 155 is not bad though.

38 seconds to 155mph is so-so. It's not bad but it's definitely not good comin from an Audi.

You'd kinda expect a lil more from them than this. Well at least 2 me i would.

Geschrieben

i'm just thinking that since an M5 gets to 100 in like 12 secconds, the W12 powered A8 with the same power to weight ratio should do a bit bitter than 38 to 155.

A bit? I'm thinkin it should do a helluva lot better.

Not sayin it should be 20 seconds better but u know where i'm gettin at.

Geschrieben

it sounds fast at first, until you look at what it's up against. I'd put money that the 760Li, XKR, and S600 (for sure) get to 155 sooner. Why doesn't audi just use that V10 they codeveloped with lambo, i'm not sure if that engine is that good (every test i've seen of gallardo has less that amazing acceleration numbers), but at 500hp, it would move the A8 faster, be lighter, and who cares if it is 2 cylenders short, because it delivers.

Geschrieben

Besides being sacreligious, maybe even too much so for Audi/VW, not using the new Lambo V10 in the A8 may have something to do with mileage. In the Gallardo, the engine gets horrible gas mileage in the best exotic car tradition, something like 9mpg. city, and 15mpg. hwy. That engine in a 4000+ lb. car would get No mileage. Plus, the charicteristics of the 5.0 liter V10 may not be right for what Audi wants. And also it could be just too " tall " of an engine. Also, remember, Audi is supposed to be one of those car companies that " cares " about the environment. I wish they all would.

Geschrieben

They could tune for better mileage though. A lot of it is gearing and how the motor is tuned for torque.
