On average, how many miles do you people think a '97 or so 5-series could last? This is assuming that it's stock and it wasn't abused.

what do you mean, how long would it live before totally dieing? Probably a lot. I'd say close to 300,000 before it totally wore out.

Some guy i used to work with had a 1991 525i.he had 348000 miles on it.

I couldnt belive it till i saw it.I didnt think a car could last so long.

for some odd reason, 750's have proven strangely durable too. I've seen lots of old bimmers around with a ton of miles on them. I think my little 318i will live to see atleast 250k, despite the fact i drive it hard, whatever broke i'd replace (possibly that would be why BMW's last?)

I've seen a Volkswagen Fox with 300,000 on it. Really, whats' keeping a well made, well maintained car from lasting forever?
