i think the only thing on earth i'd ever pay anyone to do for me would be to drywall :D

on a car, i love doing all the work myself, and plus i know it's done right when I do it, and that no one has done something wierd to my car. In general, it is FAR easier to put a supercharger on, seeing as it is just a belt, a mounting bracket, and a new intake manifold. A turbo is considderibly more complex, but seeing as space is at high premium under the hood of the 325, it could go either way. A good little centrifugal supercharger might fit nice, or you could try for a turbo.

Or, if you wanted, get some high compression pistons/rods, a high lift/duration cam, and new springs, and a computer chip, and you could have an eninge pressing 200hp naturally aspirated.

i have 2 programs that are pretty acurate that i use, and for the 325 i put a super and new cam and better exausght, and it had a little over 200 hp and did 0-60 in 6.2 and the quarter in 14.8 or something like that.

Alpina B6 ,C2 & B3 with 2.7 or 2.8L engines with 210 or so hp do 0-60 in 6.9 and 1/4mi in 15.2 - 15.5. The 2.5L 240hp e30 m3 does 0-60 in about 6.2 and 1/4 in 14.7.

The final drive on the 325e is low, about 2.7 something compared to 325i's 3.7 something and m3 4.1 , so theres a serious problem if you want good performance.

Alpina also claim that the 210hp they got was not near the engines potential though they wanted reliabilty, so you should be able to get more than 210hp if you know what you are doing.

Having a supercharger installed can be " inexpensive " I guess. Although I read the cost of a Kleeman installation and it was insane, it was just a friggin' supercharger, nothing else. 16k or something.

i've seen a supercharger put into a saturn, total cost all considdered was $2,100. It blew nice boost, and wasn't too bad. On a BMW, it would be closer to 5k. I would sooner push it to be a high performance N/A motor, but the eta engine could go either way, it would work well boosted or pressed N/A, it's preference really.

well if we had the time we would probably keep it n/a but when you can put a s/c, a new exuast, and new cam in at most a weekend, and be running 14's it just makes things easier.

i could get my 318i to run 14s naturally aspirated with a day's work, i think natural aspiration could do a lot for that car.

Also, get a shorter rear diff, it will make a world of difference.

ok, goes like this, i get a new performance chip for it, i port/polish my heads and intake manifold, get a set of headers, replace my stock airbox with a cold air, put in a variable fuel pressure regulator, and a set of shrick cams and i'm there. Right now i've been clocked to 15.8 through the quarter with the bolt ons i've got. The 4.10 rear end is a large part of it. I could shave 8 tenths by cranking up the deep breathing, cranking on my timing, and bump up the fuel.
