*What are the chances of the M3 getting a V8 one day?*

I have a 2002 330ci right now, and would love for my next car to be an M3 V8. Anyone know anything about future versions?

How does 450hp from a 4.4L V8 direct injected, possibly feauturing a magnesium block sound? Either that or a Supercharged I-6 pumping 450. Either way, 450 is the number. I would personally opt for the N/A V8.

Thats amazing, any idea when it'll be introduced? I probably won't be getting a new car for 2 or 3 years, so hopefully around that time it'll come out. Any new body stylings to go along with the engine? Steel Grey on Grey with that engine would be amazing. :o Manual, as well. :D

2005/2006. It will be a reality. 400+ is a guarantee, and it is overwhelmingly likely it will come from a V8 (for obvious reasons).

I wonder what kind of body adjustments will be made. Anyone care to speculate further about the future M3? But 450 HP will be absolutely incredible. :o

well, it will be on the next generation 3 series body, look for cues from the new 7 and Z4 (as well as upcoming 5 series). It will although have some wilder body stylings (like a more agressive spoiler and intakes). It will be styled by bangle, so anything beyond that is anyone's guess.

My dream is to have the new M3 have the hood vents that were on the M3-GTR. That... would be the most incredible car ever. I just hope it doesn't after the 7 series, I hate the look of it. I want them to keep the sense of design in the 3 series and advance it. More agressive looking, tighter design all around, and somehow add more visual flare to the sides, as the sides feel barren when I look at them.

Polar, any sites that have any info on the new one?

well, 7 is the theme, it will be more exciting in five, more yet in 3, I anticipate hood vents, but I am not sure.

I think the M3 need to to stay in the inline 6 mode, because 1 and 2 series is 4cylinders, 3 series for 6, 5 and 6 V8-V10-V12, 7 V8, V12. Actually never mind, the m3 should be V8 lol! But as long the stock normal 3's dont get V8. ideal would be 1,2 base,I4, M1/2- I4 or I6. Base 3- I6, M3-V8.

base 5-6 V8, M 5/6 V10/V12. base 7s, V8, V12. 760Lis???- V12.

Well, there is no worries of a standard 3 going V8. The M3 will hold this exlusively, further distancing it from standard 3 series.

Also, I here so much about a 760LiS. Why not just a 760iS? Wouldn't the sharper handling shorter wheelbase (which is also lighter) be a better choice for a sports edition? Will sports enthusiasts miss the extra few inches of rear leg room, probably not.

I would like to see a retuned version of the 6.75L V12 made for Rolls Royce Phantom put into the 760iS/760LiS. In current form - the 6.75 is tuned for massive low end torque - and pumps out 460hp. I would like to see it retuned for 530hp and more highend, mated to a ZF6spd and a 3.15 rear axle, the 7 series would sing.

yes, that may be part of why BMW IS GOING TO use a tuned 4.4L/4.6L V8 in the next M3. The 3.2L simply was not sufficently re-enforced for its power. It is a very torquey and high revving engine, and should have gotten race grade bottom end components (like the 3.2L AMG V6 Kompressor engine got).

Once they fix the problem with the connecting rods, the 3.2L should be a fine engine. This issue only occurs if the engine is driven at the absolute limit.
