Head room should be less than a 5 or 7 series. Leg room should be about even with 5 series, as should curb weight. Expect a 7 series style interior layout, as well as some 7 series features on the outside.

Engines:

3.5L I6 280hp (possibility)

4.4L 330hp V8

5.5L 550hp V10.

I will pass anything else I find along when I find it.

Any one else know anything?

I meant more leg room than a 8 series... if it has the same leg room asa m5, especially in the back that teh one im getting :)

Indeed, the 6 series is slated to ride on a longer wheelbase than the 5 series. Even as such - the typical coupe layout will push the cabin backwards (making up for any advantage in leg room over M5). It should have leg room approaching that of the current 7 series (the new 5 is slated to have best in class rear leg room - and the early specs on 6 show it with even more than 5 - nearly as much a 7).

It has leg room - now how about a V12?

Geschrieben

Im not sure thats going to happen because the V12 is too heavy for that car, adn the V10 would have more advantage. Also they need o to have the v10 in more than one car being the M5. but you never know

It's already news from january this year but I thought you didn't know what the specs of the M6 and 6-series are.

6-series specs:

engines: 3.0 V6 (231 HP), 3.5 V8 (272 HP), 4.4 V8 (329 HP).

comes end 2003.

M6

engine: 5.0 V10 (about 500 HP)

comes in 2004, just like the cabrio version.

Hallo 850 Ci,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für BMW M (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

BMW are much sportier. BMW - despite being a much smaller company has an amazing lead in engine technology - indeed probably atleast a decade ahead of mercedes in many areas. BMW also has an advantage in that they get the vast majority of their parts from external manufacturers - where MB develops most of everything in house. It will be a cold day in hell when Merecedes has a sportier car than BMW. Values are different. Plain and simple.

Geschrieben

yup thats for sure. but i wish the M6 would have a V12 600-700 that would be the funnest thing to drive EVER ...thats affordable :P

Geschrieben

No, no M6 will come cheap. Starting no less than 45,000 for a 6 cylender. any M6 will be amazingly expensive. Then again - it can compete with a 911 turbo.

Geschrieben

well i mean less than a ferrari or a porsche of the same comptetitiopn level

Geschrieben

Assuming a 6 series gets a 675hp V12 - it will be able to easily take on 911 turbos, Ferrari 575Ms, and even Lamborghinis. (On paper - 3,800lbs to 675hp - at least). If it gets the 550hp V10 - it will blow away Maserati GTs, Porsche 911 turbos (well, not a GT2) - and many other notable sports cars.

Do not underestimate what BMW can do. Steve Dinan's M5-S2 runs 0-60 in 4.1 seconds (even with a Z06 - 911turbo - etc.). That weighs in at over 4,000lbs, has 470hp (naturally aspirated) - and turns in skidpad numbers of .87. The new M5 will weigh 300lbs less - and have 80 more hp than the dinan. Mid to upper threes sound about right for 0-60 times. An M6 would run even with the V10 - and be amazing with the 12.

Those of you who think Ferraris, Porsches, and Vipers can't be beaten by a sedan - think again.

Yeah but V10 can be balanced a lot better than a v12 thats why they are using them .. 5 on eash die is very balance...why else they use them on fomula 1?

Geschrieben

No. A V12 is much easier to balance. The V10 is chosen for weight considderation. A V10 has one stray cylender on either side - requring balancing. A V12 (composed of two I6 engines) needs no balancing.

Oh i c. nevermind then :) but what ever its still going to be a beautiful beast .

well, if it gets the 5.5L V10 550hp from M5, then expect 420, if the "supposed" V12 6.0L 675hp - then expect something 540ish.

Geschrieben

hey 850i, in reply to the link - the picture is awsome - I really hope it does look like that, but a few things bothered me.

1: the 4.4L 282hp engine is being phased out of production in favor of the "Valvetronic 4.5L" (really a 4.4) which makes 325hp now (expect 340 soon). So the "644i" is something we will probably never see (we will see a 645i with the Valvetronic from 745). Also, When the new 5 series debuts, BMW lays to rest the amazing 4.9L 394 hp (some call it a 5.0 and 400hp - which it is not) V8 from the current M5, so I don't see how it would have that. The US may see a 635i (with bimmer's new 3.5L "valvetronic" I6 - europe will get a six cylender for sure.
