Does anyine agree with me that the Ferrari F355 sounds like a Honda Civic!! which means it sounds stupid  from inside

but outside it totally different sound, even the new F360 doenst sound that good either. I dont know whats wrong with the sound of the V-8 engines of the Ferrari :???:

the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta with FS Racing Exhaust in the BMW Owners Club of Hong Kong sounds really good from outside  but dont know about inside, but i suppose its good as this is a racing exhaust !!

Could the problem with the sound of the V-8 engines from Ferrari be from the stupid thing called catalytic converter or from its internal design or something else?? Does anyone have a clue?

Its about ignition curve and exhaust. I think it has something to do with the bore and stroke. On a 355 the bore is 85.0 mm and the stroke 77.0 mm wich is very different if you looks to other cars. The car also uses 5valves/cylinder wich is 40 on a 3.5l v8. I also heard ferrari using some special rods and pistons on their v8s. Anyway i love the sound its so aggresive.

Hi !

According to me the sound of a 355 is really great, if you add a Tubi Style exhaust it will be fantastic, you will feel as Michael Schumacher in his F1. If you have a spider you X the sensation by 2.

The sound of the modena is great but it's too superficial compare to the 355 one even with a great exhaust maybe the 360 Challenge's better.

When Z1 said that the sound of a honda is the same that a 355 it's maybe too much, but it's true that if you have a Honda integra and you put a great exhaust the sound will look like a 355 sound, really ! I know a lot of people will laugh but it's true...

see you

NO WAY!

They are one of the best sounding cars ever.

I love the screaming noise it makes.

As a experience street racer a honda civic has a big difference with the sound of a ferrari F355 My father has a F355 and I have a Modified Honda Civic so its really has a different exhaust sounds.

So true. Nothing beats a Ferrari's raw shreak at 7000+ rpm.

Comparing a Ferrari's symphonic exhaust note to a civic is blasphemous.

I personally find the sound of a ferrari V8 to be the best of any car. The way the 5V engine at 8000rpms screams - It sounds like an F1 car. It doesn't sound great and low RPMS, and it doesn't sound like a muscle car with a low pushrod burble, but it has a great sound all its own.

no other production car makes that kind of noise! the ferrari is the best sounding engine.....the pagani Zonda 7.2 liter merc sounds awesome too

Geschrieben

yeah, well, big engines typically do make their own nice sound (that low burble), though at high rpms, big motors (like the 7.2 merc) sound pressured, stressed, and anything but melodious.

So Ferrari F355 - awsome sound up high, weak down low

Zonda 7.2L - awsome down low, angry up high

anyone know one that sounds good both?

What do you think of the smallblock 5.7 litre V8 chev which is found both in the Aussie hsv's and corrvette's....i remember dads one.....that sound pretty beefy down low and pretty tough up high (5500rpm)

I don't think that the civic sounds like a ferrari. A ferrari has got a awesome sound and a civic don't have that.

Visit for a lot of ferrari videos the site www.f360.tk

ok, honda civic = japanese economy car (meant to slowly get you from point A-B, not to go fast, be pretty, sound nice, and not be mutilitated and had NOS shoved up its wazoo)

ferrari= precision, passionate, piece of automotive art, by its very nature, it is fast, agile, beautiful, and sounds awsome, it needs not even to be touched to go amazingly fast. Those who try to make ferraris better usually fail, those who do it right get world class supercars.

Am I the only one who thinks this argument is ludicrous?

civic = :)

F355 = :D

Both these cars drive by my home very oft, especially in summer. Saw Honda Civic's racing away here. And there's still a tiretrack of an F355 GTS last summer. I was sitting in the living room then I heard schreeching tires and that WOW engine sound. I jumped to the window en saw it blasting by, very cool!

My site has 2 new movie PAGES now, be sure to check out! :P

lol.... ok my buddy has a s2000 with an hks exhaust... and lol it does sound a lot like a f355, i mean almost identicle..... so i can see how you say like a civic... but trust me man, it isnt even close to a civic... listen to an s2000 though with exhasut... lol

Geschrieben

i don't even see how there is a debate, an F355 is a 5V Dohc V8 with a very unique exhaust system (central engine dictated), the civic is a 4v Sohc I4 with a very restrictive exhaust, an S2000 may make the same shrill F1esque sound, but not a civic.

 how could you even relate a ferrari to a civic in any way....that is like caling astong martin a jaguar.....or abentyly a ford taurus.... :o

Geschrieben

hey, jaguar is every bit the car an aston martin is, simply on a less grand scale.

The comparison here is like comparing a corvette to a hotwheels.

Geschrieben

I know, I know, I am just very protective of Jaguar (i guess I was brought up to revere them).

In response to the question about the Chevy Small Block 5.7L

The old 5.7L (LT1 - 350c.i.) was a beast down low, and had its own beautiful low end burble, but high end it sounded more like a choking vacuum cleaner than tuned technology.

The new 5.7L (LS1/LS6 346c.i.) is a much more well rounded engine, while not as beafy down low, it more than makes up for it in middle end power. In terms of exhaust, I would say it was pretty good until you really pushed it. I have a relative with a corvette - and his sounds pretty pushed and wheezy up around 6,000.

If you keep the revs below 4,500, it is a beautful sounding machine, but the kind of higher pitch - almost whiney sound it tends to make towards the very ends of the tach just don't keep up with the nice low end burble.

Anyhow, that is only natural for a 2V engine. GM easily has the best pushrod motors around (in terms of being well balanced and powerfully usable). I just wish they would use something more along the lines of the 5.7L DOHC LT5 motor from ZR-1

I think we need to settle this argument.

Anyone know someone with a Ferrari we can borrow? Lets get it side by side with a civic, video tape it, and put it in the carpassion gallery?

Sound good enough?
