No doubt people could "feel" them, but could they afford even used ones (ke used Jaguars, for example)? I don't think people neccessarily buy cars because they love them, and againm the "general rule" appies here. How could you ever expect the average dude who'se looking for a cheap car, to buy a used Jaguar over a new Corolla? In most cases used Jags that cost the same amount as new cheap-buys, aren't good deals.

Frankly, i would never buy a used car, unless i know everywhere it has been, every place it hasnt, and how many owners.

There are cars out htere that can be really cheap, and so worth the money, and ones like the viper, or audi TT that can so be sahmefull to the company!!!

Well you obvisouly have to get the right deal and make sure you're not getting ripped off, whatever car you're buying. That's the small problem with buying used cars; if they're cheap, you never know quite what's wrong with'em. At the same time you realy can find some amazing deals out there.

well, if you want a classic car, it really is the only option. My family has bought alfa romeos from the same mechanic/tuner for a while, and they have always worked out well. I wouldn't just buy one from anyone though.

That's exactly my point. You have a mutual trust going with your Alfa dealer/tuner/mechanic/whatever. You shouldn't buy from just anyone though. That goes for any and all cars.

Well yeah, if you look at the other posts where the page numbers go up to 2 and more, the ropic if often forgotten and people balb on about other stuff. But it's all car-related anyway, so I guess it's acceptable. Besides this is better because if we were going to have different topic threads for every single idea people wanted to discuss, the forums would be filled-up and messy. is carfax going to tell you about some wierd mods the previous owner did.

I knew a guy who turned his PCV around (yeah, it was pulling suction). have any idea what that'l do to an engine? worse yet, unless you go look for it, there'd be no way to tell.

carfax isn't about to tell you how they drove it, how often they did regular maintanance, if they used mobil one or pentosyn, or just some POS cheap 77 cent wal-mart brand oil.

it isn't going to tell you if they did hack job repairs on it (i got my bmw 318i used, only way to get an E30, but doing work on it, i find a disconcerting amount of DUCT TAPE)

you just don't know how the car has been cared for.

a good used car is great, but you just don't know.

how the hell do you know when you buy an automatic transmission car that the previous owner didn't go hot dog around, rev his car to the redline in neutral and pop into drive? you don't.

the difference between the two are , since u have admited ur lack of knowlege, a tunned ride has aftermarcket parts ie inercoolers intakemanifold inline transmision carbonfiber coil oversprings proformance exaust all things designed to make the car go faster than the bull shit bmw, although none of these things are truly needed to make any car to get to the end of the q/m befor a duct taped bmw or a stock one at that 8)
