if its a tpi modify the prom to make it burn lean, only thing is you will fail smog.

Carbed play with the q jet.

LS1/LT motors you have me, what are your rear end gears, if you are 3.08, 3.42,3.45,3.73, or 4.11's go with a 2.73 gear set, only thing is your performance will die

i think ws6 = ls1.

ive heard of some tuning that was done to achieve mid 30s on the highway. but that was with a twin turbo kit, so while it got mid 30s highway it got mid 3s when the rightmost pedal was in use.

the best way to get better mpg is to either buy a beater or drive like a granny everywhere. accelerate real slow, and shift low in the rpm band.

the cost of mods wont really compensate in an increase in gas mileage. you will still lose $

the ws6 badge is a symbol for the car. Just like SS, R/t, SRT, SI, EK, etc.

I still need to know the year and what engine. They weren't all LS series motors.

WS-6 was just the build code for the Ram-Air performance package ( just as WU8 was the "SS" package for the Camaro ). WS6 also included suspension, exhaust and tire upgrades. The code itself has been around since the 60's I think.

Modern logo which appeared beneath the tail lights. Firebird TransAm and Formula's only.

The Olds 4-4-2 had an optional package back in the 60's with consisted of air induction and some engine mods - this was called W-30

As far as how to get better mileage out of your TransAm, getting as many highway miles as you can, and taking it easy on the gas in town, is about all you can do - and keep the engine well maintained. Anything else might cost more than gas. To save money I would suggest using a more economical car for regular travel like Bleh suggested.

you know, it might be worth while looking into a chip (or tuning)for better mpg. or a different top gear. they could be the best ways of modding, but like i said before:they will cost more than the difference in gas usage.

Hallo kingfonzie12,

schau doch mal hier zum Thema Zubehör für US Cars (Anzeige)? Eventuell gibt es dort etwas Passendes.

Speaking of gears, another thing to consider is the "skip shift" feature on the 6-speed manual. This feature, which depending on throttle position forces an upshift from 1st. to 4th. This feature itself, which many find annoying was meant to improve fuel economy.

I don't think there is anything that will improve the car's consumption, short of a total de-tune - and we don't want that.

if he wants gears f-bodies litter the junk yards, rear ends are usually intact unless its a nine or twelve bolt, if you have a ten bolt rear end, its like being at a candy store.

LNC thanks for correcting me, that has been driving me nutz.(what the Oldsmobile marking was.)
