while it looked possible for a long time, the factory has denied any plans for an M7, saying it would not be a profitable venture, there is no need in the market, and a 7 series could never meet the criteria to be an M-Car.

Thats' for sure. The M5 is likely the biggest M car you will ever see. The S600's competiton is the 760Li.

The S is big as it is and not to forget about the S600L which is even longer. The S just isn't sports car material, smae goes for the 7 series. The S55 and S65 are a bad idea to begin with, but hey if somebody has too much money you can't blame MB for taking some of it.

if the 7 handles like a sports car why cant it have the performance numbers of one? TONS of people who can get the 600s and 55s get them.

7 series is a great performing and hanling car, it isn't a car you interface with the road through.

M cars are merely a suit you jump into, a 7 is yaught.
