If you compare this car directly with the Pagani Zonda and the Saleen S7 it's real bargain for that price. It actually outperforms both cars with a smaller engine and for 100k less.

it should become the premier sports car. i think they could get the price as low as 150k if they got it into large scale production (like selling them in 4 digit sums annually).

The CCV8 would destroy everything in the price range.

Agreed, the Egg is a real bargain for that price but what about maintance and durability?

Pagani drove the Zonda all over Europe to prove it's quality and the car held up well on even the most demanding roads, on some roads it even got an impressive 21 mpg. The Mercedes engine in there can be maintanced by any MB dealer because it is a of the shelf MB engine making it cheap and easy. Pagani gives 5 years waranty on the car and 10 year corrosion warranty. The Zonda has one disappointment and that is the torque curve.

After the torque peak at 4100 rpm torque begins to drop off real quick. The whole 4100 to 7000 range is downhill limiting it's topspeed.

Even though the Egg has a Ford engine almost everything about the engine has been changed. I'm sure the average Ford mechanic wouldn't have a clue to what todo with it. KoenigsEgg has a special program in place for parts and mechanics. The car can only be maintenanced by their dealers, they even have fly-over mechanics on standby, this whole package doesn't come cheap and ofcourse a pain in the arse to find a good service point. There are no dealers in the US and the closest dealer to me is on the other side of Belgium. Durability has yet to be proven, you get just 2 years warranty on the car and 10 year corrosion warranty.

However the Egg doesn't have the downhill torque curve like the Zonda. It's torque curve is flat and uphill all the way.

I would like to see KoenigsEgg prove that this car is not only fast but also durable.

THe final thing to take into consideration. The Egg has popup doors while the Zonda has swing doors. Popup doors are almost a requirement when it comes to supercars. It adds to the coolness factor of the car.
