Well,

M3 motor problems are common. Until mid 2003 BMW used crankschaft bearings that caused total engine failures that have been changed on guarantee if the car has been serviced by an BMW-Dealer regularly. This change should have been documented in the service Manual and is definitely documented in the BMW Service history.

from mid 2003 on there should be no major problems with the crankshaft. Due to the high specific power the M3 engine ist very "anfällig". High revs at low oil-temperatures, less oil or false oil can cause serious trouble as well....

Whats your special problem-if its the crankshaft problem you could have a big hole in your motorblock.....
