Rep Power: 0 | you guys have said so many things about this cayenne so i suppose i will just say a few stuff i've been thinking about... well first of all markets change all the time and it seems that in this case sports cars are loosing out big time. i think its because of the population growth, it makes it impractical to want to go really fast, people would rather be practical and buy grocery cars like SUVs or luxury ones like the upcoming rolls royce RR01 or the maybach either way beema and merc are likely to be the only massively loved sports cars coz they are not so far from the normal slow world...
anyway what do you guys think of the VW toureg, i mean it uses the same chassis as a cayenne but is obviously... eh  (lack of words::i don't know what sto say |

Rep Power: 10 | of course, the Vanquish and Range Rover starred in the bond film.
I can hardly wait to see a car chase with a cayanne.

Rep Power: 0 | VW Toureg The Toureg is, in my opinion, the better of the two SUVs (factoring in value). Not only does it look better and cost less, but VW is offering the turbo-diesel pumping out 550+ lb-ft of torque. I read an article recently that pointed out the popularity of diesel in Europe and the potential for a diesel re-revolution here in America. I think that potential buyers of the Cayenne will notice the more comprehensive styling of the Toureg. In addition, if you have decided against the sports car in order to accomodate your growing family, you may be reasonable enough to realize that you will not use the performance of your vehicle and that this Porsche will not command the same respect and road presence that a 911 Turbo does. After the initial rush of popularity, the Cayenne will falter while VW's Toureg shines.

Rep Power: 10 | Chevy and GM are still using PUSHROD powerplants in their trucks, their small block is based on a design 40 years old. (Ok, so the 4.6 in my rover is nothing more than a tuned 1962 buick motor).
One thing you have to give americans, we build the best trucks. Why drive an SUV with no utility, might as well have a sports car.
you could buy an SUV that is proficent in all areas, or an SUV that hauls, tows, and carries exceptionally, and a great sports car for the price of the cayanne. How often do tow your boat around twisty curves at high speed?
(Ok, so I may have drag raced with a boat tied to my car once).

Rep Power: 10 | Diesels will likely never see widespread popularity in north america, and a touareg, like an X5, ML, or a cayanne is a tall car. It's ability to tow, its cargo space, and its real world off-roadability is limited.

Rep Power: 0 | "For Porsche to remain independent, it can't be dependent on the most fickle segment in the market."
-Wendelin Wiedeking, Porsche CEO
I'm not really all about SUV's, but the Cayenne does seem to be a true Porsche. It has tremendous off-road capabilities, as well as unbelievable road capabilities, in accordance with the heart and soul of Porsche. Seriously, how many SUV's can you think that go 0-60 in about 5 seconds?
The fact of the matter, though, is that Porsche, although reporting good profits of late, almost sank in the early 90's. Because of this, the company must expand some in order to keep producing those famous cars that we all love so much. I, personally, would prefer an extraordinary marque such as Porsche to remain as Porsche, and not some subsidiary of some other ordinary car manufacturer. |
