I think that the Cayanne is a lost cause, so it doesn't bother me what they do to it. If i wanted an SUV like that, I'd just get the Touereg. Almost the same car, but the VW costs a whole lot less than the prancing horse.

Good idea. Lowers the cost of the car giving people who previously couldn't afford Porsches a chance to own one, possibly making them second hand 911 owners? (Sam Adams is flowing well, hope that made sense)

And if porsche is going to make an SUV, shouldn't it be a superfast SUV? Atleast should it not be powered by Porsche? This is too much parts sharing for my comfort.

Making a V6 Porsche SUV, or any premium car, for the masses is good. But only for the masses. In the long run, you just have a highly compromised vehicle carrying the Porsche crest, and cheapening it all the while.
I'm sure glad BMW is a strong independant. If somebody like VW ever got ahold of them, heads would be flying.
