Koenigsegg checks your background before you can set foot in one of those cars. If you wreck the car, then you should have to money to pay for the wreck you made, that's why they are checking your background.

And you know this how? Because it's common practice for car dealers and such to have insurance for these kinda things.

yeah its definetly insured otherwise they would even have the test drive. its insured for 2 reasons (but they both coincide). 1 if you damadge the car they cant expect someone to pay for it up front, of course this would be nice, but then the playing feild for who could buy the car gets a lot smaller. i would think they would expect a good portion of potetial buyers to be rich- very rich, but even then maybe finance the car. 2 if you get hurt or killed driving the car they need back up, obviously if you lose control and hurt yourself you could sue them, in which case they would lose a hell of a lot of money. with insurance they pay a deductable.

yes, it is insured, and the insurance policy dictates they do a full background check on you first, else the insurance is void. It is called Risk Management for a reason.

I know this because the Koenigsegg you're going to testdrive, is sold and owned by a german. A friend of my father said this when he tested it. It isn't everybody either that are allowed to test drive the Koenigsegg. You have to have a racing license or not pass 70km/t.

The driver from the Norwegian car program wasn't allowed to drive the Koenigsegg because the german owner didn't thrust him because he didn't have a racing license. He could drive it if the owner sat next to him and didn't pass 70km't. Kind of stupid huh?!!

Uuum why would KoenigsEgg need a car from a german buyer for test driving purposes? They can easily build one themselves.

That text comes from the KoenigsEgg site. If they're going to offer testdrives to people then I guess they would apoint a seperate car for just that purpose.

I think your fathers friend drove in a Egg sold by a person, these testdrives are being offerd by KoenigsEgg themselves.

Check like Fox said are common practice. Check wether you have a criminal history and wether you have caused some mayor accidents, but not a full background check which would suggest a financial and personal background check aswell.

I can think of quite a few people with a substantial criminal history, who might be in the market for a supercar - starting with the letters NFL . Beggers should not be choosers, at least in the case of sportscars, thats' what Eggy needs to learn. Mind your own business, and give me the damn keys!

Koenigsegg is a company owned by one man and 3 partners. That's all. They can't afford to make a koenigsegg just for testdriving unless they've sold about 20 cars. It is really expensive to build one car.

well, actually they can. Money is tight, but they have a lot of funding. A lot. A lot of wealthy swedes would love to see swedish industrial prestige go up by seeing the world's fastest production car be one of theirs.
