Ron Dennis (McLaren team leader) Finally confirmed that the MP4/18 project has been trashed and McLaren will start next season with the all new Mp4/19. The MP4/18 was supposed to be introduced in the beginning of the 2003 season but reliabilty and safety problems got in the way. After 3 crash tests the MP4/18 still didn't comply with the FIA rules.
The MP4/18 was ungodly fast. It could atleast shave a whole second of the laptimes of it's competitors. Ron Dennis said that the MP4/19 performance is on the same line with the MP4/18.
Because the Mp4/18 was never used and because of the 3 crashtests it has earned the title "Most expensive showcar ever".
