I drove a 2004 ML350 over the weekend and I was not impressed at all.
It was underpowered, probably due to the heavy weight (almost 5,000 LB). I was most disapapointed by the interior, especailly the front dash and the rear seats. Hard to delieve that you're sitting in a Mercedes.
ive never been in one but i would have thought they would be nice. hmm. guess i was wrong. any major differences aside from motor with the amg model?

With respect to the under-powered issue, I would assume that the AMG or even the ML500 should be better.
I drive a 2004 CLK-320 Coupe and I found the power to be adequate probably because it's much lighter (3,500LB vs 5,000LB) car.
I was really surprised of how bad the interior is. It's full of cheap plastic and small buttons at the dash and the rear seats do not look integrated at all. It does not have the FSS (computer which displays the mileage, temp, etc) and it uses the old key (not the infared one). I guess my main problem with the ML350 is the interior does not look like a car of 60K+ CAN.
i will have to go check it out. i always liked MB interiors so this is upsetting to hear this.

i checked it out online really quickly and you are right. it looks very dull, very boring. it isnt up to the other MB interiors, let alone BMW or Audi. i am not impressed. i think they should have spent more time on it, to make it look and feel luxurious like the other MBs.

well, keep in mind that the ML350 got a big power boost over the ML320, which is really sad. Also, the ML350 has a 3.7L engine, figure that one out.
It is underpowered and has sad quality, the ML has been a scar on the face of MB's quality image for a long time. They just never got that program together that well, the whole north american production thing and what not (it is built in alabama for god sake). I hope when they redo it, it will be better.
The old ML430 felt adiquately powered, the ML500 i rode in felt a bit sprightly, not too dissapointing, and sounded nice to boot. THe ML55 AMG has been disontinued due to lack of interest.

well, it doesn't cost that much more than a ford explorer either.
a decked out explorer can top 40k. I agree the interior is an insult to the mercedes tradition, but they couldn't make that car for that price otherwise, which brings up an important question.
