Rep Power: 7 | VI? I've never even seen one! Yeah that was a very incomplete car. Besides I say you should even forget VII, 'cause VIII is out (*Note: I've heard the VIII produces 271HP compared to 276HP on the VII. The reason is apparently some type of new emmision regulation or something like that. If you're a horsepower junkie that might bother you, but other than that everything about the VIII kills the VII!)

Rep Power: 7 | ive heard a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about the evoVIII. i really dont know to much of the bad except that its mitsubishi meaning after 30k miles its trouble and in the u.s. its limited edition so they are jacking up the sticker price.
i know that it is ment to compete with the wrx sti and marginally falls short of the sti in performance statistics although the review i had read of the two said the evo was better when they published all of the numbers pointing to the sti.
i really want to get some opinions, stories, facts, whatever on this beast.

Rep Power: 10 | i drove a wanna-be STi made buy a california tuner, it didn't feel comfortable to drive at all. I really did not enjoy it, the standad WRX felt better, so STI will, I'm sure be fast, but i think EVO may have it for driving.

Rep Power: 6 | i heard pretty much the same thing as bleh. the most i heard for price was 20k over sticker, rediculous. i also heard the 30,000 mile thing. where the engine will just blow up. i was looking at the sti motor the other day. 2.4 boxer with 14.5 psi!!! i dont know about you but i wouldnt want to run 14.5 as a daily driver, it seems unreliable, granted the engine was built for it but let me know what you think?

Rep Power: 10 | some cars run as high, or better than 20psi daily, but that is peak boost, and they are highly regulated. 14.5 out of subaru - who has always been very aggressive in wastegate controls, bothers me.
I saw something in motor trend. I question its accuracy, but is was a quick spec comparison. The slalom and 0-60 were better on EVO. I was impressed.

Rep Power: 9 | In daily driving it's not as though you are going to be pumping 14.5 psi every mile of the way unless you are a complete lunatic. For speed spurts it would really pay off, but in cruising I think the turbo would probably be running a lot slower. |

Rep Power: 0 | EVOs aren't made for cruising, infact up until the VIII they've been pretty terrible at it comfort-wise. The VIII, however, does have a 6th gear, which makes cruising a little more comfortable. It really is a car made for full-on driving. Not particularly practical for every day driving, but something for the weekend. The accelerator, clutch, and brakes are all snatchy when driven at low speeds.
Service intervals are short, but you have to remember these cars are derived from WRCs, where they're serviced and parts are replaced every 50 miles. To squeeze 280BHP from a 2-litre engine is pretty impressive, yet with the proper servicing they'll last for a very long time. Tires and brakes need frequent replacement, but that's the nature of the car.
It's still an absolute bargain for the performance and handling. |

Rep Power: 0 | I really dont know were you guys are getting the 30,000 mile on the evo 8 from but that is a flat out lie. I have one and it has over 60,000 mile and i havent had a problem. The engine didnt just blow up. Theres a difference between driving and abuse. |
