As you can tell by my carpool i own a drag gto vr-4. Bleh, forgive me if i'm wrong,
but it seems like your so....anti-gto is that jealousy cuz you have a pos or what?
And i sense alot of negativity towards the car, what ever happen to being optimistic instead of being pessimistic?
Sounds like a personal problem 2 me.
Anyways, Yes GTO vr-4's had probs with weight and turbo's failing.
Weight is easily solved by basically doin the same thing that mitzgto said except for mine i completely had the body remade in carbon/kevlar.
Turbo's failing? hell its easy you can just upgrade the turbo to a phantom turbo $1,170 and wow you can have a turbo able to handle upto 680hpand have an 11sec GTO.
Yes gto vr-4's exhaust system is pretty shitty i have a custom 4'' exhaust and it freed up over 30+hp jus in itself.
I'm not going to get in everything i have in my car cuz i've already done basically that in another post. VR-4's are nowhere near the worst of jap imports.
Until u drive one i suggest you either 1. shut up 2. go out and drive one then your comment means shit. It's relatively easy to make a GTO vr-4 into the 13's with only $1,000 to spend with installation.

skyline, i do give you credit for making your posts readable.

if i were to be jelous it would be because of the skyline(wouldve thought that was obvious). look at how i had to articulate my argument in this thread! i do give some respect to the car and i could very well be wrong, just show me. so far this has just been a conflict of what you think my opinion is against your opinion.

That top speed figure is rubbish, sorry! I don't know where it came from, but the 3000GT / GTO twin turbo will do comfortably more than 160mph, even in stock form.

i really don't think that a 3000GT VR-4 does much more than 160, and certainly not comfortably, it's all aerodynamics.

Actually, 160 is fairly respectable for a car of the 3000's weight, power and aerodynamics. That and the stock gearing isn't particularly aggressive. But 160 is certainly not all it could do. When in doubt - More Power!

1,000 hp. 3000GT VR-4 ...

The VR-4's aerodynamics make 160 hard with any amount of power. Yes, enough power it could go faster, but the downforce and air continuity wouldn't be there, and it would not track well at, or even if at all. More power is nice, but there are such things as aerodynamic walls you just aren't going to break with any amount of power. A 1000hp 3000GT is not going go have as high a topspeed as a 420hp 911 turbo.

I don't know, downforce aside, the 3000 is hardly shaped like a truck, it's actually a pretty low drag design. And look at the Bentley Continental T, aerodynamics like a brick, curb weight of well over 5,000lbs. and it hit 170 on 420 hp.

It's a fact, with enough driving force, a car is going to shoot past 160 weather the aerodynamics are cool with it or not. A 911 Turbo would be faster with less naturally, ( although with 1,000 hp. and other mods, I think a 420 hp. 911 might get beaten ) but even it has aerodynamic walls. Bottom line, I think the 3000 would be capable of well over 160 with enough work.
