i dug that out, i think i can find another car to push 3000GT to third worst car in class. I have another one in mind actually. I'll have to look into it.

The SVX, aside from only coming with an auto (a crappy one - same one used in Nissan Pathfinders actually), and poor brakes (borrowed from the 700lb lighter legacy), it was still underpowered to its weight. Why you would buy it, I don't know.

well, depending on how strict you wanted to follow, I had the maserati biturbo and lexus SC400 in mind (both in the size and price range, though not awd drive or in the case of the biturbo - japanese). If you are going strictly japanese midprice awds, then i'm stumped. Just happy something is worse than a VR-4 (because a VR-4 is a pretty nice car).

the sc400 is definately a rwd non turbo luxury coupe. the key difference (i feel) is luxury. the design of the car was something very different.

like i said before though the 3000gt is a nice car. the dodge stealth i saw commanded respect on the streets. its just the worst, ehem, second worst in its class. i guess what i was saying was that its the 2nd worst of the best japanese cars.

couldnt read all those posts... just wanted to jump in with -- VR-4 had some really bad problems with the turbos failing and needing replaced and failing again and needing replaced and failing again... etc..
Also.. they weren't easy to work on at all... pretty sure you had to take the intake manifold off to change the spark plugs...

thats it...

they did have lots off odds and ends with them. The infinit J30 (which was very similar to 300ZX in terms of driveline) had to have the intake manifold pulled too to get the plugs.

thepolarfoxqx I agree with you all the way. I own a highly modified 3000GT VR-4 with a single turbo conversion that is almost done. The VR4 handled better then the NSX and ran the same times while weighing hundreds of pounds more. But alot of people dont realize that you can actually get a VR4 down to 3400lbs...carbon fiber hood, rear hatch, driveline, and replace the seats which weigh about 85lbs for the driver and 60 for the passenger..the thing about the VR4 is its a underdog..so when you smash on someone they are completely shocked.

no doubts, the VR4 was heavy because it has lots of un needed BS, rip it out, you've got a car that isn't too heavy, a soldi motor and a sturdy driveline, and a car that in general really does perform well. It never got the publicity Skyline and Supra got, but it's every bit the car.
