If you want more info about 3000GT's or Stealths of any year or model, check out www.3si.org...membership is free and its a nice, dedicated forum with plenty of information on those cars. I'm also a member there and my username there is also Femtex23, so feel free to pm me. Good luck with the car!

Firstly, its not worth getting a 3000GT unless its the VR-4 or the only other DOHC model under that. I have a stealth so I'm not as familiar with the 3000GT's but they are the exact same car. I have a 1991 Stealth RT non-turbo. The turbo models are fairly reliable, but as with any car, after you begin modding, dependability seriously decreases...lol. Frankly, I'm going to leave my car alone. For the average person, these cars are quite a handful. Maintenance is a MUST, so after you buy one (of any year or model) be prepared to dump an easy 2k into it for preventative maintenance + labor. Parts can get very pricey. To get more info, and maybe someone in your area that could help you do the maintenance, get on 3SI and go for it. People there are pretty nice. I need to do my 120k service so there is a guy from that forum here in Austin thats gonna do it for me. Most mechanics have NO IDEA how to work on these cars so an enthusiast is your best bet. Do you think a Lambo owner would take his car to Honda to get the maintenance done? Nope, but in this case, even the dealerships suck at working on these cars. I stress this to you: GET ON 3SI AND GET A MEMBER TO HELP YOU WORK ON THESE CARS...most mechanics will just screw it up and take your money.

The best description I can give you of the engine bay in a TT or VR-4 is :Spaghetti. Its nothing but tubes, and wires, and clips and crap EVERYWHERE...but, it produces some healthy power and the AWD isnt bad either. AWD only came with the Turbo models so if thats what you want, buy one. The others are FWD, which is good, but to me, nothing beats AWD. IMO, the first gens (1991-93) are the best looking, GT's or Stealths. The newer models were toned down quite a bit and dont look as exotic to me. But have fun with your car. 3si also has a cars for sale section. We only like to sell to other 3si members so we can keep the cars "in the family" so to speak. But, there you will find good, well taken care of cars, from reputable people. Good luck!
