Gold rims, lowered suspension, and now a carbon fiber hood. Those are some strong visual statements. It won't be long before other guys will be pulling up next to you at the light, and expect you to back that azz up.

I have a good friend, and he spray painted his hood black to give it that carbon look, and topped it off with hot rod pipes. But he drives a '94 Geo Metro. He recently sprayed the wheel covers green, but the clear coat makes them look decent. In the near future, I'm going to help him paint gecko's on the car.

May I make a suggestion about the picture angle? A "reverse ricer tilt" with the nose down lacks dynamicism. Nose should always be pointing up, but the trash can in the background is a real touch of class! I'm just messing with you.

Carbon Fiber?

Just kidding with ya. Just don't crash that stuff tends to shatter....Just be ready to back up the body work with some motor.

Sadly enough, my car has an inch of dust on it. It wouldn't start this morning. When I did start it, well you know what it looks like when a supercharger engages on a big 8 cylinder. That was the equivalent of what the car did.

are you serious about the angle though? i really dont know anything about taking pictures. trash can and construction site i though were fitting, considering that my car is trash(junk yard parts) that was(were) thrown together(except for the hood) and the contruction also fits as this project is far from finished.

i was thinking about painting the hood, but it really looks decent in person, so i dont think im going to.... the hood is 21lbs lighter than the stock one and the wheels are 6lbs lighter per corner. the battery is 16lbs lighter than the oem one.

what else do you guys think i could lighten on the front end? the foglights arent going anywhere cus my stock headlights are really hurtin. i also have a front swaybar and bigger brakes for the front corners sitting in the garage and they are going to add some lbs too.

My friend's funky Metro hatch, it's not so much a joke as it is a freewheeling expression of fun and individuality. He's the one who's been living in Hawaii, and now he's moving to Key West as well, so it's pretty much an island thing.

It's true about the angle. Raising the nose high gives the impression of power and confidence, like the car is being launched into the stratosphere ( as opposed to into the ground ). To the untrained eye, it's kind of a subconscious effect. The "under construction" theme you had is actually quite clever.

Yeah, I would leave the carbon hood bare. Spending nearly 300 on it entitles you to show it off a bit, plus it's a cool look.

About lightening the front, short of carbon fiber everything. I don't know how much the stock mirrors weigh, but you might replace those. Any frame or suspension part that isn't aluminum might be switched out. Take out the AC and any extranious stuff in the nose. I'm guessing the Civic is pretty sparse up there anyway though. It'd be cool to weigh your car's weight balance to see just where it stands in that regard.

Iroc, where do you keep that car, in a coal mine?

your friend sounds pretty crazy but pretty fun too. if i lived in hawaii i dont think i could ever move anywhere else....

thats interesting about the angle though, usually for the tilt shots its easier to angle the nose down when taken from the front of the car, and it usually tends to look more natural. i need more experience to further refine my taste and technique though, so we will see how my glamour shots of my civic progress

its a shame i get some negative attention with the hood. people are just more likely to want to cut me off assuming im just some street racing ricer or something. little do they know i have every intention of being a curtious driver..... jerks.

i would love to get the corner weights of my car, and more importantly i would love to get coilovers and corner balance it. right now i bet its still close to 60/40. i have taken roughly equal amounts from the front and rear. front - hood and battery, rear - spare, jack and rear seat backs for the summer.

Bleh your gonna get alot of negative attention in that car, especially with that hood. If you have alot of exhaust noise it will be even worse. Most people hate those cars. Sorry, I am not a fan and I tend to make fun of them myself. Though, the most I might due would be display some torque.

Hey, believe it or not in Pennsylvania they are banning aftermarket exhausts. All cars equipped with aftermarket exhaust systems are going to have to revert back to stock. Its nice because even though Camaros and Mustangs and the like are known to be raced. The police tend to go after the imports. I guess domestics are considered safer? Even though an Iroc-Z and a Fox Mustang were some of the first cars to be crushed.

LNC- I keep the Camaro in my garage but I have clay all over the floor to keep the oil from projects from staining. Normally, thats fine but my mother puts the dog in the garage. Creating a mess of dog hair and clay all over the car. Even with the car cover on.

thats impossible. whenever anyone has an exhaust leak they never ever put an oem exhaust back on. they go to a muffler shop and have the generic peice put back on.

it does go to show how ignorant pigs hold their prejudicies though. its sad that imports are discriminate against, but then who's fault is it? the rednecks or "the fast and the furious" and its followers. either way i think ill be painting the hood in the next 6 months.

its funny that you need to "show torque". we dont need to show it to be quick all of the civic owners i know with 250+ft.lbs. in their civics run 12s. a few local all motor guys are run 12s in their civics with less than 180ft.lbs. i know you want to call bs, thats why you shouldve gone to raceway park in englishtown on the 14th.

i do love my stock exhaust though. it has trouble keeping up with the motor but its very discrete.

A ban on all after market exhausts in PA? I don't see how they could possibly enforce that, short of pulling over every car with a fart can, or every pickup truck with big duals - and there are a whole lot of those. For whatever reason, not everyone would be inclined to change it back to stock either.

Bleh, you should stick the message "COURTEOUS DRIVER" across your rear window in big white letters.
