im sorry if i see negative at times. i really meant to correct misinformation.

i admire everything that toyota did with the celica with exception to the taillights. i really didnt notice how out of place they were until one of my friends pointed out that they look like they belong on a pickup. i like the headlights though and the idea of a oem bodykit, even it it comes with a monster wing.

one of my friends has one and he did some sort of modification to something on the intake manifold or the throttle body and it had some crazy throttle response.

no one but R34 knows how to race.

I've never heard of anyone getting a stock GT-S to quarter sub 14, but that's ok.

It's 0-60 is above 7 (not cool).

And by the way

IT HAS THE WORST TORQUE CURVE EVER.

the torque curve looks like cross-section of the terrain map of south america. low ... flat ... flat ... flat... (still nothing) flat.. flat. ANDES MOUNTAINS - WAY UP!!! .... and dead.

it has nothing till close to 7k, then it huge spikes, then dies again.

It's just not practical. Even with six gears, you couldn't always keep it inside of that range. It just couldn't be done.

It is not a bad car, but it isn't even best in class, and definately not worth the hype.

In the GT-S, 0-60 can be reached in under 7 if you know how to work it. The engine is very peaky, lets put it that way. So you have to rev it to get power out of it, a lot of four cylinders are like that. Not only that, but Lotus chose to use it too, not a Honda engine, I'm sure they had good reason.

The problem is, Celica gets no hype on this site, but I'm giving it cred. It's a car that challenges it's driver, stiffish ride and all. For all of that, I commend it! It's a light little car with sharp reflexes, how can that be bad?
It also has damn good breaks.

By the way, Bleh. I like the tail, I never would have thought pickup truck, but I see what your friend means.

Maybe because it wasn't worth asking. Just a harmless glitch I guess ... Wait a minute, the lights just went out.

its really funny that you mention lotus using the integra type r engine and switching to toyotas. in a lot of ways i think the gts is better than the type r and as far streetability goes and was actually impressed by what toyota had done. before the most recent version of the celica i thought the only good thing toyota had going for them was the supra.

i also think lotus chose toyotas engine since it will not cost as much as the itr engine and they are going to try to make the elise affordable.

The Celica engine will be good for the Lotus. Claimed performance is 0-60 in 4.9, 0-100 in 12.6, with a top speed of 144mph.

The Elise was designed around the 1.8 liter Rover K-Series engine. Although an Integra Type-R motor conversion is/was available through an outfit called Sun International.
