Default Bentley

Bentley is coming out with what they call the Bentley GT. It bears odd resemblance to an Aston Martin. Powered by a 6.0L Volkswagen W12 - twin turbocharged - but built in Crewe, England. Horsepower output is said to be 580. Bentley has always been sporty, but this is a good change. The old Arnage Red Label - while it put out 450hp and 650ft/lbs. from a twin turbo Pushrod 6.75L V8 - which dates back 40 years in design - was fast - still is very fast, but was also nearly 6000lbs. and powered by an engine that was already dated 20 years ago. The GT is amazing, i would like to see where VW audi goes with the rest of the lineup

I just though I would update you on what is new at Bentley - under VW. Firstly - all the new bentleys will be using VW technology and parts - tuned and built by bentley. The new GT will be of sufficent size to carry 4 six footers (it has rear buckets seats), looks pretty amazing, and will run to 60 in 4.7 - powered by a twin turbo W12 6.0L engine and a 6 speed tiptronic auto. Furthermore, a new Bentley supercar Hunaudieres is coming out - running on the VW/Lambo platform that Bugatti sits on, it will have a crewe developed version of the 8.0L W16 - meaning more torque - less HP probably than the Bugatti version. Most of you have seen a picture of GT, so I just included one of Hunaudieres.

Are you serious? I wouldn't want to sit back there, even if I were " just " 6 feet tall, I'm a lot taller than that. Have you seen the see through diagram of the GT? The back passengers are obviously scrunched. It doesn't surprise me, seeing as it's more or less the make or break introduction to the " new " design direction, so it's going to be style over function. And it isn't even stylish.

hey dude, i got that comfortable seating for 4 from VW/Bentley marketing. At 6'4", i don't fit in a whole lot of back seats. Atleast, none of the cars I own. It would be cool if there were a coupe that could do that (other than CL). Even the rather large 6-Class coupes of the 80s lacked major backseat room. I'd love a coupe whose back seat someone my size would fit into.

Doesn't it also get 10 miles to the gallon with a 200 miles range? Hope you like spending time at the pump. I don't get why they based this on the uberschwer VW Phaeton platform when they could use the A8.

Well, I suppose it's just an unavoidable fact that mileage could only be so good, no matter how advanced an engine is, or how efficiant the combustion is. It still burns gas, and in the case of a large megamotor, a lot of gas. The thing is, fossil fuels can only be made so efficiant.

it comes to this. energy is conserved. if the engine is making more torque than it needs to to keep the car going, that's wasted energy. You can only get a mega motor so weak.

I don't know why they used Phaeton, probably because it's more adaptable, it's a standard unibody, and the 6.0L W12 is a good fit, the aluminum space framed A8 platform is hard to adapt, and furthermore, has rumored issues with the very wide W12.
