My 1996 BMW 850CSI Individual

Hello,

It's been quite a long time since I have been registered on this forum, but I never really took the opportunity to post pictures of my car until now.

My previous car was a 1994 M3 Cabrio which I kept for 6 years.

I was not really looking to sell it, but about one year ago, a friend told me about a 1996 850CSI for sale with only 30'000 Km.

I loved the car as soon as I saw it!

It was all original except from the front parking sensors.

The color is TechnoViolett and it seems to be the only CSI made in that color.

When I first saw the interior, I was a bit shoked, but I got used to it now.



The pictures don't do justice to it and it's a lot nicer in reality:


Apart from a good clean, I didn't intend to do anything on the car. I wanted however to put back the BMW badges (instead of the ///M ones), remove the ///M badge on the front grill and put back the 850CSI badge at the rear.















I had the huge license plate support on the front removed too:




The engine is very clean and IMHO one of the nicest BMW has ever made.:

I also tried to remake a picture that I loved from my M3, but it didn't turn out as well:




I am very happy with the car so far and hope I will be able to keep it for many more years!

One of the most exciting BMWs ever and I have never seen one in techno violett before. Most 850 CSi are red oder dark blue.

BTW, my M3 sedan is also painted in techno violett. You own a fantastic car!

Do you have a clicking sound in neutral position from your 6 spd. Getrag gearbox when the oil is warm? It's a problem on the M3 3.2 that has the same gearbox.

The interiour is a little bit strange and I'm surprised that the sky roof is not colored in black, like it is M Style. I like the Professional RDS Radio, please don't exchange it.

Actually, it seems this car has been the only CSI ever produced in TechnoViolett.

I also had an E36 M3 (Cabrio) before. It was Daytona Violet and I loved it...

Regarding the gearbox noise, I don't have it, but my car only has 35'000 km at the moment.

I was a bit "surprised" by the interior the first time I saw it, but now it has grown on me and I love it! I was also disappointed the car didn't have the black roof, but this might be due to the Individual interior.

It seems this car was ordered by BMW M in the first place

I don't plan to do any modifications to the car, including the Professional headunit.

My M3 had only 19.000 km when I bougt it and had that clicking sound like a diesel from the gearbox. BMW says thats usual and not defect. The internet discussions say the same, so it's ok for me.

BTW: Are you also active in the german CP board? As you are from Switzerland you may speak german?

One of the reasons that your E31 is the only technoviolett car could be, that this colour came very late with the Update to the M3 3.2 and was never offered for the E31. I think there are some in daytona violett as it was also known from the E34 M5 and the E36 M3 3.0.

I think you are right regarding the color. I was told that appart from my CSI, there were around 11 E31s produces in TechnoViolett.

Mine is from May 1996, so it's one of the lasts produced. (39th before the last I believe)
