Default Alpina

What exactly is Alpina, there used to be a forum for this but its gone now. It seems that all they do is take BMWs and call them theirs. This can't be the truth, so what do they really do?

they start with production bimmers and totally overhaul them, often changing the entire character of the car, Think of alpina as AMG tuning BMWs, they use a philosophy more like AMG than MPower, except they work with bimmers. They are a first rate opperation, and their cars are almost always amazing in all aspects.

There was no activity on the Alpina forum here, so we just lumped it in with BMW, Alpina doesn't have the same following in the US as in europe.

You can't really compare Alpina and ///M. Alpina BMWs, like the B7, and B10 V8, are designed to be more comfortable. I remember reading this article in a British BMW magazine, where they compared the M5, and the B10. The tester says that while the B10 is still capable of keeping up with the M5 on a straight line, it looses out on the corners, since it isn't designed for it.
Even their motto: "Fine automobiles for the connossieur" says it all. I actually have a few Alpina brochures, and I'll try to post some pictures of the interior.
Also, since ///M has decided to do away with the M7 idea, you could get the alpina's B7.
FActs of the Alpina B7:
POWER/TORQUE: 500hp/700Nm
Top Speed: 300km/h
0-100km/h: <5.5secs

Yeah, like organising an official defy:
Motorsport for MB and
AMG for BMW.
I think it would get an amazing result and also a lot less time from AMG as BMW engines are more refined.

motorsport would have trouble with a merc engine, which was designed to be a good torquey low end motor, and gives well to forced induction, and not being revved the hell out of. AMG, i'm not sure what they would do to mpower, if you think about it, amg tuning a bmw might even be harder.

I was thinking more as AMG tuning an ordinary BMW, not an MPower-ed car which would be hell harder.
My quess is that AMG will quickly go to the supercharger forced induction. Am I right: would it be easyer to force induct a BMW engine or an MB engine? (both ordinary)
