Wed need a hell of a lot better roads to go near 600 kph. The best street tires we have are only rated for continous travel at 300 kph or 187 mph. I think its our enviroment that limits us here.
As for the mustang cobra its a good car, certainly one that offers most power for your buck. That is true about its 390 hp rating. They wanted to avoid the 1999 HP fiasco, so they underated the car, in reality it iscloser to 420+ crank hp stock. Some stock SC cobras have run close to mid 12s bone stock. Also a change of blowers for about 4000 extra dollars you can be pushing 620 rwhp not a bad deal, making that type of power for under 50k.
The 99 cobra was unfortunate. I have seen dyno sheets for the 2003 - and they have more than 390hp at the rear wheels, which is impressive. I think they underrated the horsepower on this engine (they'd have to to have over 390 at the rear wheels!). The supercharger is pretty decent, but an underdriving pully would definately give a lot of zip.
The Veryon has its own specially designed michelins, which have capacity for that speed.
Roads may be an issue though!

You're worried about roads? At 1000+ horsepower I'd be worried about much more than just roads. Roads should be the least of your worries. Even on the best race track in the world I'd still have goosebumps driving a monster like that.
BTW I wonder if Bugatti and VW have improvised a way yet to stop the Veyron's tires from exploding...!.
if volkswagen's engineers say it is safe, i trust them. the tires are huge, and custom made by michelin, and the driveline is nothing short of artwork on red-neck proportions. VW is one of the few companies who i would trust to make a car like that.

I'm sorry N866DA, but the cobra doesn't run a 0-60 time 0f 5.2 sec. With a skilled driver, a cobra could probably run anywhere from 4.0-4.5 sec. The cobra is just as fast as the Z06 and faster than the c5 corvette. Heck, the MACH1 is as fast as the c5.
Mach 1 turns over a best case of 5.2 (and you're pushing it). I am a big stang fan, and I'll tell ya, in terms of performance, a Cobra is superior to C5 LS1, and flat out can't touch LS6, with some tuning although, it easily has the potential. For the price of a Z06, you could get a 4 seat cobra, and tune it to outperform. Easy as that.
